The Buzz on Burt's Bees Products

One of the neatest deals to be had is the “Facial in a Kit” pack that comes in a cute clear plastic zippered pouch. It contains “everything you need to cleanse, mask, hydrate, moisturize, and beautify:”

I loved this little pack of miracles! In addition to this, I also tried out Burt’s Bees Hand Salve-A Farmer’s Friend and the Farmer’s Market Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream.

How I Tested Burt’s Bees Products

I put the “Facial in a Kit” on my bathroom sink, and went to town. I tried the products one by one, and was quite impressed with them all.

Orange Essence Facial Cleanser – This is a thick, rich, beeswax-y feeling golden-orange facial cleanser that is just exudes orange-y sweetness! When I rubbed it into my face, it made my skin warm and tingly. Once it’s on, though, you think, ‘uh,oh—this stuff is too greasy and will never rinse off!’ but it does, and quite easily, too. It leaves your face feeling rehydrated, soft, and young again.

Garden Tomato Toner—After cleansing, I soaked a cotton ball with this gentle toner. It feels wonderful stroked on the face, and it gently removes dirt and oils, and leaves the face glowing.

Green Goddess Herbal Spa Clay Mask—I used this after the toner. Simply empty the packet of clay mask into a small bowl, and add enough water to make a light paste. It makes a terrific tightening and cleansing mask, and rinses off easily with warm water.

Wild Lettuce Complexion Soap for Dry and Sensitive Skin—This lovely, woodsy-brown, gently-lathering soap really moisturizes facial skin.

Garden Carrot Complexion Soap for Mature and Sun-Damaged Skin—I loved this one. It’s a carroty gold soap that’s easy on the skin (particularly older skin), and makes silky suds.

Burt’s Beeswax Moisturizing Crme —What a fabulous moisturizer this is! You’d think from the name that this would be waxy or greasy, but it’s neither. It sinks into the skin and keeps it feeling soft and hydrated all night. Even in the morning, my skin felt fresh and dewy.

Burt’s Bees Carrot Nutritive Day Crme —this wonderful crme is perfect for smoothing into your skin in the morning and wearing under your sunscreen and makeup. It glides easily into the skin, and keeps it hydrated all day.

Wings of Love All-Natural Lipstick—This cute little lipstick is a rosebud pink, which to be honest, doesn’t do much for my coloring, but it is very moisturizing and soothing to the lips.

Wings of Love Rice Paper Powdered Facial Tissues—These handy little powder wipes immediately improve your makeup halfway through the day! I kept some in my drawer at work to freshen up, and they are light enough to simply remove shine and brighten makeup.

Hand Salve-A Farmer’s Friend—This is a great treatment for hands that are dry, itchy, and chapped. It’s also great for other areas that need special attention, like heels, knees, and elbows. It’s a bit on the heavy side, so you might decide as I did that it’s really good for an overnight hand softener. I rubbed it into my hands and elbows right before bed, and noticed a big improvement in the morning. Also, if you’re going to work with your hands gardening or doing yardwork, try rubbing this in before and after the work. Your hands will thank you!

Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream—I’ve been using this for months now, and it is absolutely the best cuticle cream I have ever used in my life. Unlike the claims made by so many cuticle creams, this one really works. It really does soften them—mine have gotten like ten little strips of sandpaper, and this cream does the trick. It allows you to gently push the cuticles back, and it moisturizes the whole nail area.

Burt’s Bees Orange Essence Facial Cleanser – Vegetable glycerine, olive oil, orange oil, oat protein, water, lanolin, aloe burbadensis gel, vegetable oil & beta-carotene, tocopherol (vitamin E), and rosemary extract.

Burt’s Bees Garden Tomato Toner- Filtered water, SD alcohol 40-B (from yellow corn), vegetable glycerine, extracts of cucumber, green tea, parsley, tomato, bilberry, sugar cane, sugar maple, orange and lemon (natural source of alpha-hydroxy acids), and fragrance.

Green Goddess Clay Mask – Kaolin (green French clay), peppermint leaves, bentonite (natural clay), calendula flower, comfrey leaves, rosemary leaves, horsetail leaves, chamomile flower, comfrey root, sage leaves, peppermint oil, rosemary oil, lavandin oil, and eucalyptus oil. 

Burt’s Beeswax Moisturizing Crme – Sweet almond oil, water, beeswax, aloe burbadensis gel, kaolin (natural clay), grapefruit seed extract, carrageenan extract (Irish moss), fragrance, glucose, glucose oxidase & lactoperoxidase (sugar & natural enzymes), tocopherol (vitamin E), and sodium borate (natural borax).

Burt’s Bees Carrot Nutritive Day Crme – Filtered water, hybrid sunflower oil, stearic acid (vegetable fat), vegetable glycerine, coconut oil, beeswax, balsam peru, orange wax, tocopherol (vitamin E), wheat germ oil, avocado oil, grapeseed oil, aloe burbadensis, carrot seed oil, sodium borate (natural borax), rosemary extract, xanthan gum (natural thickener), sucrose stearate (sugar emulsifier), sucrose & glucose oxidase & lactoperoxidase (sugar & natural enzymes), fragrance, and beta-carotene. 

Wings of Love All-Natural Lipstick – Sunflower oil, castor oil, beeswax, coconut oil, candelilla wax, lanolin, cocoa butter, tocopherol (vitamin E), peppermint oil, carnuba wax, comfrey root extract, and rosemary extract. May also contain: iron oxide, mica, carmine, titanium dioxide.                       

Wings of Love Powdered Facial Tissues – Corn starch, titanium dioxide, kaolin, zinc oxide, iron oxide. 

Fragrance

Orange Essence Facial Cleanser – watch out. This one really IS good enough to eat! In fact, as I was rinsing it off, I got some in my mouth, and it tastes great! 

Garden Tomato Toner—don’t worry, you won’t smell like tomatoes! This gentle toner has a lovely, light, citrus-y scent. 

Green Goddess Herbal Spa Clay Mask—a truly wonderful clay mask that has a heavenly scent of eucalyptus and lavender! 

Wild Lettuce Complexion Soap for Dry and Sensitive Skin—light, fresh, herbal aroma.

Garden Carrot Complexion Soap for Mature and Sun-Damaged Skin—fresh, herbal, and not carroty at all! 

Beeswax Moisturizing Crme—this crme has the most heavenly almond scent! As you wear it, you keep saying to yourself, ‘what IS that wonderful smell? Oh—it’s ME!’ 

Carrot Day Crme—this crme also has a fabulous scent. It’s a candy-like smell, reminiscent of sweet carrot juice.

Hand Salve-A Farmer’s Friend—you can really smell the rosemary and the lavender in it. 

Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream—like the Orange Essence, this smells so good you want to eat it! It’s pure, delicious, delightful lemon! 

Packaging

Burt’s Bees products generally come in the traditional gold tins or glass or plastic jars with gold lids, usually with Burt’s bearded mug on them.

Conclusion

The Burt’s Bees line is a wonderful array of products, and I absolutely loved the “Facial in a Kit.” The quality is outstanding, as are the ingredients, and they are wonderful for the skin.
