About Hair
Introduction
Did you know? That baby hair begins to grow around the third month after conception
within the womb of the mother? That is when trichocysts are first formed. They develop
into hair follicles as the fetus grows, then become downy hairs several centimeters long
when the baby is born.
Did you also know that the total number of hairs is determined before the baby is born?
After that, the number of hairs never increases. It just decreases. The number of hairs
greatly varies for each person, from sixty thousand to one hundred and fifty thousand, and
makes up one of the natural characteristics of each person when they are born.
Did you also know what determines the different hair color of people?
Or how many hairs the average human has on their bodies? Or about the chemistry of hair?
If you didnt know and you want to, or if you want to get some great detailed
information about hair the All About Hair (AAH) site is the best place on the Web to go.
When you visit All About Hair be sure that you have plenty of time to hang out and
enjoy this fabulous site. I bet you will never view your hair the same after a trip
through Mike Trobees site.
Introducing Mike Trobee
Mike Trobee is the extremely talented force behind the All About Hair website. I know
how hard he works to keep All About Hair informative, fresh and innovative.
I met Mike via email in the Spring of 1998 after we had relaunched Hair Boutique. One
of the first webmasters that I heard from was Mike. He went out of his way to show support
for Hair Boutique by offering to help jumpstart our traffic with a front page banner
exchange.
I was very touched and most appreciative. Sure enough, after one week, our traffic was
on its way up (thanks Mike).
During that time I actually had the privilege of chatting with Mike on the phone.
During our phone conversations I learned a lot about him.
An Amazing Background In Hair
Mike has an amazing background in the hair industry which explains the depth and
breadth of his All About Hair site. His main strengths are in product and hair chemistry
and hair marketing.
Mike spent 8 years working for Nexxus where he was responsible for approximately
2,500 salons. He worked as a regional manager and taught classes in hair chemistry, color,
perming, retailing, motivation and product use.
He also "trained the trainers" so they could pass on his wisdom. Mike
estimates that he conducted over 1,664 workshops, classes or seminars for salons.
After Nexxus Mike moved to Paul Mitchell. He worked directly with directors for
Lanza, PermaParis Haircolor and Pativa. He also had the opportunity to learn from
Jheri and Steven Redding (Nexxus), John Paul DeJoria of Paul Mitchell and Robert
DeLanza.
Always New, Always Fresh
I like to pop into All About Hair about once a week to see what Mike is up to. This man
is constantly pioneering new ways to present one of the very best hair sites on the Web.
Recently I was pleasantly surprised when I popped in and saw that Mike has
"redone" the site to look fresh and inviting. Mike has incorporated a completely
new color scheme. It looks great.
The All About Hair website is really and truly "all about hair". The first
time that I visited All About Hair I stayed for over two hours reading all the articles,
notes, advice and FAQs on hair. I was blown away by the wealth of hair information.
I really enjoyed checking out all the great hair related links, reading the Hair Tips
and Top Ten Lists in my quest for better haircare. Mike also has a detailed Glossary Of
Ingredients that includes all kinds of wonderful hair related info.
Whew. I am still amazed at all the hair related articles and information that Mike has
jam packed into this premier hair site.
I recently received email from a high school teacher who wanted to know if I could
recommend any Web related hair resources so that she could put together a hair care lesson
plan. I emailed her the URL for All About Hair and told her that she could find everything
she needed at this site.
It would be impossible, without duplicating the site, to list everything that you can
see when you visit All About Hair. So I will have to limit myself to my favorite parts of
the site.
Glossary Of Ingredients
There are over 125 different hair care ingredients and 33 herbal ingredients listed in
the All About Hair Glossary. The descriptions are excellent and provide the unvarnished
facts.
I have often popped into the Glossary when I am doing testing or research on a new
product to check out the different ingredients and what they do.
Not too long ago I noticed a product had Borage and I was not sure exactly how it would
work in a shampoo. I checked it out in All About Hair and got my answer. Borage, according
to AAH, is an emollient herb that has a cooling and soothing effect, allaying irritation.
With All About Hair you can learn something new every single day.
About Hair Products
This section of the site includes information about shampoo, conditioners, styling
tools, nutrition and your hair and specials from outside companies. It also has a link to
new and great products.
The section on nutrition is a "must see". This area of the site includes a
special report that provides you with lots of great details on the growth and development
of hair, ageing of the human scalp, and the impact of zinc, copper,
mangamese, iron,
iodine, folic acid and B12 on your hair.
It also provides information on choline and inositol, calcium pantothenate and niacin.
There is excellent information on the role diet plays in the hair. You would be amazed at
how diet does impact your hair.
Chemical Services & Chemistry
Mike Trobee specializes in hair and product chemistry. So it is not all that surprising
that this section of the site includes a wonderful description of the structure of the
human hair. Be sure and read Mikes article, The Short & Sweet Of Hair Chemistry
& How It Effects Your Hair.
There is a wealth of information on color and perms as well. You wont meet a
nicer guy on the Internet than Mike nor will you meet anyone with as much knowledge about
hair.
Questions & Advice
This section will give you the most commonly asked questions about hair including what
is the best hairstyle for your face shape, dealing with frizzy hair, hair without volume
and gray hair.
This part of the site provides lots of great questions and answers and additional
information on dry, fine, permed and color treated hair.
Quick Guide To Hair Care Products
As Mike points out
..the market has lots of great hair care lines. Each one does
have their own niche. Mike offers some links to some great products at a discount. The
products include: Janol, Redken, Paul Mitchell, Rusk, Sebastain, ARTec, Image,
Alterna,
Senscience and Antica.
Salon Marketing
If you own a salon and are interested in receiving information on salon merchandizing,
click on the Salon Marketing link and you will find the link to Ten Merchandizing Tips To
Help Your Retail, courtesy of Paul Mitchell.
List of Quality Salons
All About Hair provides a list of the quality hair care salons in the US. Click on the
Salons In The USA to browse this helpful list of salons from Alabama to Washington, D.C.
Lots of good information here like everywhere else on this site.
Other Goodies
I could probably write an entire book about all the different topics that are stuffed
into all the different nooks and crannies throughout the All About Hair Site. However, I
know I have to cut to the chase and finish this review so I can get it posted on the front
page of Hair Boutique in a reasonable time frame.
All About Hair has lots of other goodies that I did not describe in detail. There is a
whole section on hair loss information as well as surveys that you can take, contests you
can enter and a free newsletter you can subscribe to.
I love everything on the All About Hair website and I really love the AAH acronym. AAH
is what I like to say after a wonderfully invigorating shampoo and conditioning
experience. You know
aaaahhhhhhhh
..feels good.
That describes All About Hair in a nutshell. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. |
