Carmen Electra (Tara Leigh Patrick) is a classic beauty whose signature style always includes gorgeous hairstyles.
The beautiful TV personality, singer, dancer and actress captured media attention on New Year's Eve when she hosted Billboard's 2009 New Year's Eve Live bash on Fox Broadcasting from the famous Mandalay Hotel beach area in Las Vegas.
If you've ever been to the Mandalay Beach area at the famous hotel you know just how fabulous the outside beach paradise area is.
If you love Carmen's constantly changing hair hues, lengths, textures and range of ever changing hairstyles you are in good company. The beautiful brunette is known as much for her beauty as she is for her acting roles.
Carmen, like many top celebrities, has some of the most talented hairdressers on her speed dial for her Red Carpet hair needs. For her various TV and film appearances Carmen depends on the on-set hairdressers to transform her into the various characters she plays.
Although she works with more than one due to her frequent travel schedule, Carmen has worked with Ken Paves off and on for years for many of her hairstyling needs.
Hairstyle: Sassy Sophisticated Long Lush Waves.
One ongoing question about Carmen is whether or not she utilizes any type of wigs or add-on hair for her various hairstyles. Looking closely at her photo above it doesn't appear obvious she had add-on strands, but with the options available in today's add-on hair market it's often hard to tell. In this case I would guess Carmen is wearing all her own hair.
Hairstyle Color: Dark Honey Blonde Base
Hairstyle Highlights/Lowlights: Light Honey Blonde Highlights, Darker Toasted Almond Lowlights. Carmen's hair color is a spectacular mix of light and dark blondes which provide depth, shimmer and movement to her stunning waves.
Texture: Carmen has medium to thick hair in excellent shape with lots of natural bend and waves. Her hair is usually styled with lots of body and lush volume built in around the crown and throughout the sides.
Fringe: Carmen's long lush hairstyle was fringe free and cascading off a center part. Her hair was worn brushed off her hairline with her long tresses cascading down past her shoulders.
Face Shape: Carmen's gorgeous face shape is a blend of oval and square. She has stunning cheekbones which slope into a squared off jaw with a slightly square shaped chin.
Hairstyle Works Best: Carmen's hairstyle works best for hair which is shoulder length or longer, all one length or with subtle layers.
The best texture for this hairstyle is naturally wavy. It can also be created on hair which is naturally straight and natural curls, especially if the curls are looser rather than tight.
Hair Tools Required: Large barrel curling iron or large hot rollers, 100% boar bristle brush, long tail comb, bobby pins, styling spray and/or cream, sculpting hairspray, shine spray and/or serum drops. To add fullness and length you may wish to play with clip-in hair extensions.
Fashion Trending Hairstyles
Carmen is famous for wearing her tresses in the latest hairstyles while setting trends. When her fans see her latest hairstyles they are quick to copy her stunning tresses. Even better, Carmen wears her hair in styles which work with the event she is attending and complementing her face shape and fashions.
How To Recreate Carmen's Wavy Hairstyle
To copy Carmen's luscious wavy hairstyle follow the simple steps listed below:
1. Start with either freshly cleansed and completely dry hair or with day old hair with a cream or spray designed to help with the creation of soft hair waves.
Note: If you shampoo your hair before styling be sure to use products for your hair type (fine/thin, medium, thick, very thick), texture (straight, wavy, curly, kinky) and current condition (normal, damaged, extremely damaged).
2. If you wish to copy Carmen's hair completely, create a center part down the middle of your hairline using a long tail comb. If you prefer you can copy Carmen's hairstyle with a fringe or side part although it will not look exactly the same.
After prepping hair with spray or similar, wrap around a large barrel curling iron (or large hot rollers) for a few seconds to avoid burning or damaging strands. Carmen's hairdresser says "hold the iron until you feel the heat coming off of the hair."
5. After creating each individual curl and removing the iron, re-roll curl around fingers to recreate the curl. Pin to the scalp.
6. When all the sections of hair have been completely ironed, reformed and pinned, spritz the entire head lightly with a setting or styling spray.
7. When hair is completely dry and cool, unpin each curl.
8. Rake through the remaining hair with your fingers to arrange hair into sexy waves just like Carmen.
9. For Carmen's brilliant shine add a few drops of shine serum, spray or shine enhancing hairspray to the palms of your hands and then wipe lightly over the top of your tresses.
Note: If the waves are too well formed use a 100% boar bristle brush to break up the waves a bit and make them softer. Remember the smaller the curling iron barrel, the tighter the resulting curls and waves.
This hairstyle is gorgeous and can be worn for any Holiday or Party Hair event ranging from a formal or semi-formal dinner or a special formal dance or Prom.
This is a classic hairstyle which never goes out of style. To amp up the look even more add a bejewelled hairpin clip on one side of the hairline.
Carmen Electra has been quoted in the media as saying she gets panic attacks when she gets near water which is interesting since the celebrity is famous for her bikini body and her work on TV's Baywatch where she played a life guard and of course the New Year's Eve party was held at a Las Vegas hotel beach.
Even if Carmen didn't love being near water, her hair looks spectacular and that's always a huge plus for her hair fans.
