Ever since Vidal Sassoon created his still
famous "Five Point" cut on Grace Coddington
in 1964, certain hairdressers were much
bigger than the hair that they created.
It became status to have a Vidal Sassoon
haircut that was actually cut by Vidal
himself.
Kenneth Battelle was famous for creating
bouffants on the likes of Jackie Kennedy and
Marilyn. Kenneth still cuts hair an
average of four days a week and his price is
much less than the $600.
Halston said about celebrity hairdressers
"you're famouse because of your clients, not
because of you".

Tracey Cunningham
Celebrity Haircolorist To Molly Sims
"So many people want her hair color!" exclaims
colourist Tracey Cunningham, the woman behind the foil. So, how does
she do it? "I lift her base very slightly and I highlight and
lowlight her at the same time afterward, adding some light-brown
caramel-y pieces through her hair and a tiny bit of red and blond."
Sims, who emphatically claims Cunningham does the "best color in
the world," is in the salon chair every six weeks to maintain the
covetable hue. But good luck trying to match it. "I have people come
in for her hair color, but either they don't have the right base
color or they don't have the right type of hair," says Cunningham.
Her best hair advice: Quite simply, less is more.
"Molly's not switching her hair every five minutes.
That's why she has hair on her head. If you do too much,
you lose hair."
In her kit: Redken Blonde Glam Color-Activating
Treatment, 200 mL, $21, is especially great for Sims'
highlights. "It's a protein conditioner you put on the
hair right afterward. It's not a leave-in, but it really
keeps hair very healthy."

Romijn, Molly Sims
"People have good hair and people have bad hair, and she's got a good
head of hair," says hairstylist Davy Newkirk, who met Sims on the
set of House of Style, the MTV series that launched the Kentuckian
toward fame and fortune. Newkirk can't say enough about Sims'
gorgeous locks. "She has really good texture and a lot of it, and it
has a little bit of a wave, so it can go curly or it can go straight
pretty easily." He describes Sims' look as "fresh and young," so to
maintain her breezy appearance he always keeps things simple.
His black-tie hair philosophy: "I think it's more
fashionable to not be super done-looking. A body curl
that's down and loose, kind of like a wave, is nice on
her (Molly Sims)."
His casual-hair rules: "Molly always looks good with
her hair in a ponytail. She has such a great face, so
with her hair slicked back, even in a bun, she always
looks really good. It's a good classic look, too."
In his kit: Phyto Phytovolume Actif, 100 mL, $28, to
lift roots, and, to keep it all together, Newkirk uses
L'Oréal Elnett hairspray. (You'll have to cross the
ocean to fetch this pro fave.)

of a family of three boys. He was very close to his mother
growing up and eventually started to work with his mother on her
various hairstyles. Very early on he gave his mom a Perm and
he developed a love for transforming hair.
After high school Ken went off to college to get a degree in Special
Education to fulfill his love for helping kids with special needs.
Along the way he realized that he was neglecting his true love of
hairdressing and dropped out of college to pursue his dream of
working with hair. After he graduated from cosmetology school
in Michigan he spent some time in Detroit working for local salons
until his dreams of bigger and better opportunities took him to
Miami, Florida where he started out as a hard working, severely
underpaid assistant for the world famous Oribe.
From those humble beginnings he worked his way up the ladder of
success ultimately meeting his dream celeb client - Jessica Simpson
- during a hair cut emergency. Flying all night from
California to New York the hairdresser spent his trip hand sewing
hair extension wefts for a celebrity he never met before. Once
they met Ken and Jessica immediately became best friends and to this
day, years later, continue to work together.

concept of a Celebrity Hairdresser.
The brilliant Vidal has certainly left his mark on
the world of hair and beauty. Not only did he
revolutionize the way all women - celebs and non-celebs
- styled their hair, this father of modernist style
worked with some of the biggest and brightest stars in
the world.
Vidal became rich and famous for ending the days of
time consuming roller sets and hours in the salon by
creating edgy haircuts which were styled naturally with
a blow dryer.
As a hairdresser the always charming Vidal has also
been a key force in the commercial direction of hair
styling, ultimately turning its craft in to a
multi-million dollar industry.
The master hairstylist created the at-the-time
shocking boy cut on Mia Farrow for Rosemary's Baby.
Known by a combination of names, the Mia's cut was
called the Sassoon, the Urchin and The Pixie.
It was sometimes called a short crop or cap. Mia
Farrow became one of Sassoon's "signature hair cuts"
although throughout his lifetime career he worked on a
never ending array of A List celebrities.
Celebrity hair clients include -
Mia Farrow.
