Star Beauty Theory: Tom Cruise Has Perfect Legs & Height
For A Man From Goggle News Condensed From An Article
In The Sunday Telegraph - By Tom Kelly
When actor Tom Cruise and his much taller wife Nicole
divorced, the long leggy redhead was quoted in the press
as saying: "At least I can wear high heels again".
During the course of their almost ten year marriage
the actress was known to wear mostly flats because of
the height difference with her famous actor husband.
Much media ink was spilled about the noticeable height
difference between the short actor and his leggy actress
wife.
Cruise, 44, has endured mockery over his size after
it was claimed he wore lifts in his shoes to boost his
height on screen.
Ironically, research now shows that Tom Cruise may be
short, but he has what is considered to be perfect legs
for a man. At least according to various
researchers.
Researchers believe long legs in women are more
appealing than shorter legs because "they indicate good
childbearing capabilities. It is now known that
tall women have wider pelvises, allowing for easier
births and higher birth weight babies".
Long legs in women also indicate good health.
Women whose growth rates are slowed because of a lack of
nutrition may end up having shorter legs than their
torso.
Longer leg length compared to body size is also
associated with a reduced risk of heart disease, cancer
and diabetes, lower blood pressure, better
cardiovascular profiles, lower adult mortality and
reduced risk of cancer.
The research study is the first to assess
attractiveness on the ratio of leg and body length. It
found that on average legs make up half of adult height
but there are wide individual differences. Women are
more likely to have legs longer than their body than
men.
University College London psychologist Dr. Viren
Swami, who conducted the leg related research in men and
women found "If you have shorter legs in comparison with
your torso length you appear to have a bigger torso,
which may make you appear more muscular."
Psychologists report that males look most attractive
when like Cruise, their legs are the same length as
their torso.
In the study, reported in the journal Body Image,
volunteers rated the attractiveness of pictures of men
and women with different legs to body ratios.
Researchers found that the different proportions
played an important role in judgments of male and female
physical attractiveness.
"Over all, both male and female participants showed a
preference for higher leg-to-body ratios in women and
lower leg-to-body ratios in men,'' researchers
concluded.
The most attractive leg shape for a woman was thought
to be 1.4 times the length of her upper body, as is the
case of Nicole Kidman.
The study was the first to assess attractiveness on
the ratio of leg and body length. It found that on
average legs make up half of adult height but there are
wide individual differences.
