Pasadena Welcomes a New Beauty to Old
Town; PUREBEAUTY Opens Newest and Largest Los Angeles Area Store
ENCINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 17, 2003--PUREBEAUTY, the
first of its kind beauty lifestyle retailer, will open its 53rd
store on July 24, in Pasadena's Old Town, CEO Brett Saevitzon
announced today. The store, totaling 3,200 square feet, brings
together a superior selection of brand name beauty products, expert
consultation and exceptional salon services -- all in one convenient
location. Located at 28 East Colorado Boulevard, PUREBEAUTY Pasadena
will be one of the company's largest and most "beautiful"
stores to open to date.
Grand opening festivities will begin on Thursday, July 24 with a
private preview for invited guests and dignitaries. Ribbon cutting
ceremonies will take place Friday, July 25 at 10 a.m. and are open
to the public. The store will remain open to the public following
that ceremony until 10 p.m. The store's regular hours begin on
Saturday at 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
WHAT'S IN STORE
Located in the historic 1929 Fish Building, the Pasadena
PUREBEAUTY store will offer shoppers an unparalleled beauty retail
experience. In addition to PUREBEAUTY's signature shopping
environment, the store features 18-foot soaring ceilings, floor to
ceiling windows on three walls and exposed brick on the fourth. A
large quantity of natural light has allowed the PUREBEAUTY design
team to experiment with new concepts not otherwise found in a
typical beauty retail environment.
The main floor retail area incorporates an eight-foot tall water
feature, which consists of a panel of back-lit blue glass with water
cascading down the front. Fronted with a comfortable blue sofa, the
seating area allows guests to enjoy the relaxing sound of tumbling
water while shopping. A kidney shaped "plug and play" area
allows shoppers to try styling tools and products while in-store.
The design team also incorporated a variety of wood surfaces in the
overall design, choosing to retain the store's 1940s era maple
floors, but accenting it with cherry and mahogany fixtures.
PUREBEAUTY's use of fabrics throughout the retail and salon areas,
including an 18-foot tall blue velvet curtain, convey a sense of
softness and luxury not typically found in a beauty retail
environment.
In addition, the salon features three floating stations each of
which features a mirror suspended from the ceiling and movable
fixtures, one anchored station against the wall, two esthetic rooms
and a large gold sofa for lounging before and after services. Set
off by the floor to ceiling blue velvet curtain, the salon sits on
the mezzanine level of the store and is complimented by mahogany
accents throughout.
SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
As a special welcome to the neighborhood during opening weekend,
PUREBEAUTY will bring in experts from a variety of its featured
product lines to provide visitors with complimentary services. DDF
and Dermalogica representatives and PUREBEAUTY estheticians will
perform skin analysis and provide product recommendations. Linda
Cantello and Too Faced consultants will perform mini-makeovers and
assist residents in finding the perfect cosmetic products, while
representatives from Pureology hair care will be on hand to provide
customers with solutions for their particular hair type. OPI nail
care will be in step with the hottest summer colors, offering mini
manicures on Saturday only.
Customers will also be treated to complimentary PUREBEAUTY salon
services such as bang trims, complimentary eyebrow waxing and
express hair styling, while becoming acquainted with the community's
newest and most informed beauty consultants. In addition, customers
who schedule an appointment during grand opening weekend for a
future salon service will receive 50% off that service when it is
rendered.
The first 100 customers through the door on Friday, Saturday and
Sunday will receive a free PUREBEAUTY summer tote. And every
customer who visits the Pasadena PUREBEAUTY store and spends more
than $50 on opening weekend will receive a special gift.
Personalized service, teamed with extensive product knowledge and
variety, are the hallmarks that have propelled PUREBEAUTY to its
present level of success. Essential to the company's growth is
avoiding a high-rent, mega-store approach by creating a more
intimate, boutique atmosphere. The company has built or acquired
most of its stores in lifestyle oriented shopping centers, where
PUREBEAUTY clientele are likely to find other retailers of high end
products for home and wardrobe. Each location features highly
trained PURECONSULTANTS, estheticians, and stylists who are
available to consult with customers regarding product purchases and
salon services. PUREBEAUTY has more than 50 locations across
California, Nevada, Arizona and Texas.

July 15, 2003 07:07 AM US Central TimezoneWayne Scot Lukas, Celebrity Fashion
Stylist and Expert, Offers Hot Summer Fashion and Photo Tips
--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Summer is upon us, and the warm-weather clothes are making their
way out of millions of closets across America. But before you
pull out that flowered sundress from last season -- STOP! You could
be venting into the "What not to wear zone."
And how about all of those photos you're sure to take this summer
-- do you really want to be remembered as a "fashion faux
pas"? Kodak has teamed with celebrity stylist and fashion
expert Wayne Scot Lukas to offer easy tips on how to look your best
in pictures, and how to get the best pictures possible this summer
and for the rest of your life.
"We all know how scary we can look when we are in our most
comfortable outfits. We also know how great we can look and feel
when dressed for big events. We'll show you a few easy tips so that
you will feel great, be comfortable and look your very best in every
outfit and for every event. Whether it's your child's wedding or a
trip to climb Mt. Everest - not in the same dress of course -we want
to show people how easy it is to look your best in pictures."
-- Wayne Scot Lukas, Celebrity Fashion Stylist and Fashion Expert
You Are What You Wear
Be aware of the saying, "a picture is worth a thousand
words." Don't let those words be, "REMEMBER THAT
HAIR" or "WHAT WAS I THINKING WEARING THAT?"
You know you can only hide your body and bad fashion behind so
many babies, cars or pets when you appear in photos. You may laugh,
but everyone has done it! Wayne has a few tips that will show you
how to dress so that you look your best in every memory you create.
In everyday life, you really aren't "only" what you wear.
In photos, however, what you decide to wear, how you do your hair
and the type of processing you choose ALL make a big difference in
the quality of your pictures.
Here are a few quick tips to help you look your best in pictures:
Tip #1: Be comfortable in your own skin
-- If you feel good you'll look good. You should also pay
attention to your shape and color choices. If you wear a shirt or
outfit that feels great and people say to you, "You look great
in that outfit," or "Wow, that color looks great on
you," BUY MORE OF IT! It really is that easy. If you listen to
the good compliments you can start to create a uniform, YOUR uniform
that will work across the board for all events and that you will
look fabulous in for all of your photos!
Tip #2: Film processing matters
-- There is a new way to develop your pictures. Picture this ...
you've got your favorite outfit on and you're looking particularly
cute with a dazzling smile. Film processing matters and makes all
the difference after you've captured the moment. A new service,
Kodak Perfect Touch Processing, digitally scans and improves each
individual picture to reveal more vibrant colors, richer details and
fewer dark shadows, which will let your very best shine through!
Tip #3: Know the balance of your body
-- Take a good look at yourself in your clothes in the mirror and
in past photos. How does your body balance in them? For example, do
you look like the "Leaning Tower of Pisa" (where
everything is a little off and leans to one side)? The way your
clothing fits can do wonders for your shape in photos. Don't shop
for trends when you figure out your uniform; go for season-less
classics that will last.
Tip #4: Study celebrities and learn from them
-- Look at celebrities, pay attention to who has similar coloring
to you regarding hair skin and makeup - this is free fashion advice!
Notice which colors don't work for your celebrity "twin"
and avoid those. The same will work for body types. Which celebrity
is closest to you in shape? There are ways for all shapes and sizes.
From Kathy Bates all the way to Laura Flynn Boyle -- someone for
everyone! Pay attention to the shapes they wear. Watch how they pose
in photos and try to mirror those techniques.
