JUXTAPOSE COLLECTION (jukstepoz)/ v. to place side by side
Great Minds Don’t Have to Think Alike
(BEVERLY
HILLS, Calif. – January 8, 2003) – Four heads are better than
one, especially when you draw together Paul Mitchell Artistic
Director Robert Cromeans, Artistic Directors for Paul Mitchell the
color Scott Cole and Linda Yodice, and Paul Mitchell Master
Associate Stephanie Kocielski.
John Paul Mitchell Systems assembled these great artists to
join their distinctive techniques and generate an innovative
approach to hair cutting, color, and styling.
Out of this team of talent has evolved JUSTAPOSE, two
collections launching this March 2003 – one cutting and one color
– which take hairdressing to the next level.
“We
are all known for our distinctions,” stated Linda Yodice, “but
we are inspired by each other in opposition and bounce ideas off
each other constantly.” Robert
Cromeans commented that once they started working on the collection,
“….we found out that we are all much closer than we imagined.”
Juxtapose
is comprised of three cut and color designs – Blondie (with
Platinum Card), Peek-A-Boo, and Scales and Veils – which combine
the strength of geometric lines with soft, sheer invisible layers.
These designs demonstrate the inspiration of the
collaborative process, and illustrate the process by which great
talents create today’s hot looks.
Two of the Artists’ innovative compositions are described
below:
Blondie and Platinum Card
Those who want to give their clients sexy,
retro Debbie Harry hair should try this take on the 70’s shag,
with short strong lines in front to frame the face and softer layers
in back to maintain the length.
The Platinum Card color technique creates a fusion of blondes
– platinum color in front to frame the face and darker shades in
the back – using HLN with 30 volume Cream Developer, HLN with 20
volume Cream Developer, Dual-Purpose Bleach with 10 volume Cream
Developer, Dual-Purpose Bleach with 20 volume Cream Developer and
Color Block.
Peek-a-Boo
An asymmetrical and playful cut incorporating
the power of round geometrics with soft disconnected veils of hair
and color. The color
emphasizes the essence of the cut, the importance of the hair left
after the cutting. The object was to bring out the pieces left, so color was
added to the areas left out in the cut using the formula of
Dual-Purpose Bleach with 10 volume Cream Developer, equal parts 4A
and 2N with 10 volume Cream Developer, Red INKWORKS, and Color
Block.
The Juxtapose Cut Collection includes recipe
cards, the collection video featuring Robert Cromeans and Scott Cole
and the new Extra-Body Finishing Spray™, as well as Straight Works®,
Sculpting Foam™, Re-Works™, and Gloss Drops®.
