Name That Celebrity!
You know, the only positive thing about these long hiatuses has been that in the column that preceded each, I managed to pick my hardest mystery celebrity pictures ever. In fact, for the first time, I did not get 10 winners, with the ninth correct answer not even arriving until mid-December. Sometimes I even outdo myself. Rarely, but hey, I bask when I can. Anyway, the glammed up mystery celebs from the last column were...
Mystery Celebrity #1:
Catherine
Bell (of CBS' "JAG")
Mystery Celebrity #2:
Josie Bissett

The first person to guess correctly way back in late September was...
AMANDA ESTEP
Way to go Amanda. The next 8 in order were: cbascuna, Rita McMahon, Lori Fyffe, Karen Dutton, saladuch, Michelle Sauve, Susan Penn, and
Stephanie
Todd.

Now on to this month's pictures. Oh, but first, before I forget, be sure to include with your guess the name you would want used in the column in case you win. Saves me some time. Anyway, As usual, I give you either a picture of a celebrity from early in their life or career with some completely different look or I disguise a current picture. You then have to tell me who the celebrity in question is. Simple enough? Of course.
So, tell me, who are these two former
aficionados of big 80s hair?

Once again, no hints. I don't expect them to last
too long though... =)

As usual, THE FIRST PERSON to send
me the correct answer for
BOTH gets a hearty virtual handshake and
pat on the back...and their name featured in the next column. The
next nine just get their name in the column. Sure, it's a subtle
difference, but those yellow letters don't come cheap. Good Luck!
Did
Ya Know?
In honor of the recent "Charlie's Angels" movie, I have three tidbits that reaffirm that the original show really was all about the hair.
Sure, FARRAH FAWCETT'S golden mane was the hair that launched a thousand feathers, but hers wasn't the only coveted and copied look on the show. Believe it or not,
JACLYN SMITH got almost as many letters as Farrah requesting information on how to duplicate her dark brown, center-parted, feathered masterpiece. The big loser in the hair sweepstakes then was
KATE JACKSON, who actually started out with a longer style very similar to Jaclyn's (check out that early publicity photo below), but soon had to trade it in for her banged,
bobish, "Smart Angel" 'do to differentiate her from Jaclyn. Gotta hate it when that happens.

On a similar note to the above, the third of the one season Angels,
TANYA ROBERTS
(Shelly Hack was the other), joined in the fifth and final season of the show. At the time Tanya had blonde hair, but since they had just had two blondes with Shelly Hack and Cheryl Ladd, they wanted her to go with a different color. Initially they tried dark brown, but Jaclyn Smith objected due to the similarity to her own popular locks. So Tanya had to change again to the only remaining unused haircolor of red. Unfortunately for Tanya, the excessive coloring took it's toll and her hair began to fall out. Fortunately for her, the show only lasted one more season and she was eventually able to return the her, uh, "natural" blonde. =)
There were actually at least two, "hair in peril" episodes of "Charlie's Angels". In Season One, the "Night of the Strangler" episode saw a mysterious killer offing models and then, for a really lame reason explained later, cutting off their hair. The climactic scene was where Jill
(Farrah) was saved, just after being drugged and just before the tragic haircut could commence.
And in Season Three,
CHERYL LADD's blonde locks are in danger in
"Pom Pom Girls", when cheerleaders for a pro football team are being kidnapped and inducted into a cult to "cleanse" them of their promiscuous ways, which, of course, included cutting all of their hair off. See, they are cheerleaders and thus wanton hussies or something. Anyway, after going undercover, Chris (Cheryl) was kidnapped and just before her blonde locks could be chopped, she jumped up and beat the crap outta most everyone in the room. Disaster averted.
Oh, and if you are wondering why in that "Night of the Strangler" episode, all the other women were killed before they were shorn and Farrah was just drugged, it's because...uh...well...because...um. You know in how James Bond movies there is at least one stunt that you can only explain by saying, "Hey, it's BOND, man!"? Well, think of this as, "Hey, it's the ANGELS, man!".

As usual, JerkyFlea
