I can not tell you how many times I have almost lost my first book by Patrick to a sticky fingered visitor.  They don't mean any harm, they just can't put the book down once they pick it up.

When Patrick's assistant Marco emailed me recently that Patrick's new book, Dressing Long Hair #2 was available, I could not wait to get my hands on a copy.

  Is Patrick's second book as good as his first book, Patrick Cameron's Dressing Long Hair?  Yes, a thousand times yes. I could not believe that Patrick could outdo his first stunning book.  

Somehow he has managed to soar to new heights with his "hot off the presses" second book on dressing long hair.  One thing is very obvious from this newly published book, Patrick definitely loves long hair and he is a master at working with it.

Will this second book win awards?  I am convinced it must.  Will I lend my copy to anyone?  Not on your life. Patrick's second book includes 15 gorgeous new long hair styles in a fold out, step-by-step format.  

Patrick Cameron Dressing Long Hair - Book 2 costs 4 pounds more than Patrick's first book, Dressing Long Hair.  Believe me, in my humble opinion it is work every single penny of the 25 pounds.

Whether you have long hair or not, if you love beautiful photos of long hair, this book will knock your socks off. 

If you have long hair and want to learn some great new styles, this book tells you or your stylist how to create some gorgeous new long hair creations.  

Can you do the styles by yourself?  In all honesty, some people may be able to do some of the new long hair styles by themselves.  Some of the new long hair styles may require some assistance from a friend, stylist or loved one.

It doesn't really matter.  This book is going to be one of those collector's books that will only go up in value as the years fade away.

About Patrick Cameron

Patrick Cameron is a top international hair stylist known for his gorgeous styles and his work with long hair. This book is his second.  His first book, Dressing Long Hair had hundreds of specially commissioned full color photographs. 

The book is a true work of art that will take your breath away. When I first received this gorgeous work I tried to pick the photographs of the hairdos that I liked best. 

Patrick graciously gave Marco permission to email me several photos from his new book so that I could include them in my book review.

Dressing Long Hair - Book 2 Sample Photos

Without further ado I am going to knock your socks off by showing you some of the sample photos from the new book.  I really appreciate the fact that Patrick  graciously provided The Hair Boutique with photos to give you a few peeks at some of the stunning styles that are in Dressing Long Hair Book 2.  You know what they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

For the purposes of this review I settled on some of the new styles that I absolutely love. 

There are 15 new and completely different gorgeous long hair style designed for medium to long hair in this second work by Patrick. Most of these looks would not work with hair that was shorter than collarbone. They actually work best with hair that is between the collarbone and the middle of the back.  In some cases, the longer your hair, the better.

Each of the new long hair styles include detailed, color steps that show Patrick creating each style every step of the way. The photos are large and the individual detail of each step is clear. I have tried many of the new styles on my own hair and have decided to have my stylist do some of the others for me.

A Gorgeous Updo For Long Curls

In this example from his book Patrick has taken long curly hair and carefully dressed it into a beautiful updo that is set off by a series of thin headbands.  

This updo achieves its fullness and height from the natural length and fullness of the curls.  

This updo is perfect for any sort of formal event and can be worn with a variety of different looks.  It can be made to look more elaborate by adding a variety of different hair jewels.  

Like all the other updos and long hair styles in Dressing Long Hair - Book 2, Patrick provides very detailed step-by-step instructions. 

Long

This style looks very complicated but it only looks that way.  Patrick creates this gorgeous and elegant style with a series of twists and hair coils.

One thing that I have noticed is that Patrick is much more concerned with creating stunning styles with minimal backcombing or teasing of the hair.  Many of his new looks build upon the natural length of the hair to create the height and fullness of the look.

This stunning look can be dressed up for evening with fans or dressed down for a more professional look.  I have tried a version of this look with some of my own business suits and it has worked well for me.  This style would also look stunning with a variety of hair jewelry or flowers tucked into it.  I personally love the combs, they are a very elegant touch.

Gorgeous Updo

This elegant and beautiful long style has several steps that are all illustrated in color showing Patrick actually creating this incredible sculpture of sleek hair that is set off on either side with long curling tendrils. 

This is a perfect bridal style as well as a perfect hairstyle for any dressy event. I actually tried the steps and although I didn't like the look on my face shape, I was able to duplicate Patrick's steps.

I can't give away any of Patrick's steps because of copyright restrictions, but I can give you a hint and tell you that Patrick uses lots of carefully crafted parts and sections to create the ultimate look.

Summary

I could babble on for hours about Patrick's second book.  Patrick Cameron is renowned for his work with long hair, shares his incredible talent with the hair care industry by presenting his ideas at hair shows and seminars around the world and knows all the secrets of long hair. 

I can also tell you that besides the photos I have shown you this book is stuffed full of some of the most stunning hairstyles your eyes will ever see.

There is nothing else for me to tell you but to buy this book. Don't wait.  The book just came out in late October of 1999, but if this book is anything like Patrick's first book it will sell like hotcakes. It definitely may not last forever. 

You will enjoy this book if you love long hair. Be prepared to droll over Patrick's incredible hair works of art.  You will never regret acquiring this book.  You have my absolute promise.
