Salonovations' Braids & Updo's Made Easy

Salonovations' Braids & Updo's Made Easy

by Jamie Rines Jones
Paperback - 128 Pages
Published by Milady

Braids & Updos Made Easy is another great book by Salonovations and Milady Publishing (a division of Delmar Publishers). This book about long hair styles was written by a hairstylist for hairstylists.

The author, Jamie Rines Jones, has been a licensed hairstylist since 1977 with many years of salon experience.

She has traveled extensively teaching long hair design concepts for Pivot Point International as well as her own company which is Helping Hand Productions.

Helping Hand Productions was created by Jamie with a specific goal. To produce videotapes and books that take the fear and frustration out of working with long hair. She also strives to create styles that can be completed in just 20 minutes or less.

Jamis has developed some amazing tips for working with long hair. All of her long hair styles have been specifically tested for their beauty, simplicity, wearability and consumer acceptance.

You don't have to be a hairstylist or a student of hairstyling to love this book. All that is required is either long to medium hair that you want to style or an interest in the topic of longer hair styles.

This 8 1/2 by 11 inch paperback book has actually been available since July of 1996. I just found it about 2 months ago. I must tell you that it is really great. Each of the 20 different long hair styles and updos has very detailed step-by-step instructions that are illustrated in very clear black and white line drawings. What I like about the illustrations is that they actually show you the correct finger and hand positions as the style is being created.

There is also information provided with many of the styles on alternative options. Many of the styles can be made into multiple looks.

It is easier to give you a listing of the Table of Contents from the book than to try and tell you about all the different styles that are in the book.

There have been many hairstyling books with braids. I would have to put a stake in the ground and say that this is one of the best. All of the many pages of illustrations are crystal clear and they tell you exactly how your hands should be positioned.

This book is specifically designed for someone braiding someone else's hair. I found, with some practice that it was possible for me to duplicate many of the braids and updos myself on my own hair. I won't deny that it took me some practice a sometimes a little help.

Many of the braid and updo designs are unique. There are some actual color pictures are included. Ms. Jones does not recommend much, if any, backcombing or teasing to successfully execute the various hair designs. This is good news for preventing damage to your hair.

Many of these incredible hair designs would be lovely for special events, brides or other dressy occasions.

This exciting guide to 20 of the latest braids and updos includes special troubleshooting tips which discuss the most common problems associated with each style and demonstrate how to avoid them.

Buy this book if you love beautiful dressy hair styles for medium to long hair.

Enjoy!
