Hair Wraps
by Anne Akers Johnson
When I first puchased this book (I paid $12.95 plus Texas sales tax) I thought
it was mainly for younger people in the teen age category. I read the entire 29 page book
in a matter of minutes and had my hair in one of the wraps described in the book in a
relatively short period of time.
The book comes complete with everything you need to do hair wraps. It includes
10 color of
The book explains all the basics about hair wrapping. It also teaches you how to
do The Basic Wrap, how to stripe the wrap, add charms, add beads and do a rope wrap. There
is also detailed instructions for an X wrap, a woven wrap and a spiral wrap.
The book has very clear instructions with lots of color photos and thumbnail
illustrations throughout the entire book. Once you get the hang of wrapping and weaving,
you can let your creativity go wild with other wrapping materials and beads and ornaments.
The book does recommend that until you get the hang of wrapping, you trade techniques with
a friend or relative. With a little practice, the hair wrapping technique used in this
book are not complicated.
Anyone with an interest in wrapping their hair would probably enjoy this book.
Although the photos are of teen level females, I have seen similar wraps on all sex, race
and age of people.
I can tell you that I enjoyed the book. I also bought a few copies for some
friends to try the techniques.
The cost of the book is very reasonable considering everything that comes with
it. I paid a lot more than the Amazon.com price and still felt it was a worthwhile
purchase.
Don't let the target audience of this book deter you from getting it if you love
doing new and unusual things to your hair. This book has lots of great new ideas that can
be used as a springboard for creative ways to weave and wrap your hair.
