Scissors and Comb Haircutting : A Cut-By-Cut Guide for Home Haircutters

Scissors and Comb Haircutting : A Cut-By-Cut Guide for Home Haircutters

By Bob Ohnstad

This book is written by Bob Ohnstad who has been a professional barber since 1963. This paperback book gets down to brass tacks. It teaches you how to cut hair without any guesswork or frustration. This is considered to be one of the first books that provided detailed a step-by-step guide to cutting hair. The books contains literally 100s of photos that instructs you how to give expert haircuts the very first time that you try. Bob teaches 3 basic types of haircuts and then shows you lots of different variations on the basic cuts. Bob explains that the cuts are designed to be easy to care for and maintain and that most people will like the results. His book explains how to use the appropriate hair cutting tools. It also has a chapter that explains how to determine the best length and shape for anybody's hair. There is good information about dealing with problem hair too.

Bob's book was written back in 1985 and is constantly being reprinted because of popular demand. Amazon.com did an interview Bob and it was very insightful. In the interview Bob explained that he started writing his book in 1980 when he thought he might have a terminal illness. Instead of whipping the book out in a matter of months, it took him 5 years to publish the book. The book has been successful because Bob has a long background in teaching and cutting hair. It is obvious that Bob truly enjoys his subject.

This is a great book if you want to learn to cut hair. Bob is a wonderful writer and quite a personality in his own right. I guarantee you will enjoy Bob's work of love.

Enjoy.
