The Art of Aromatherapy : The Healing and
Beautifying Properties of the Essential Oils of Flowers and Herbs
by Robert B. Tisserand
This is one of my personal reference books. I have had this great book since it was
first published. I refer to it all the time. Even 10 years later. This is probably the
best standard reference book available on aromatherapy. Many aromatherapy experts consider
Robert Tisserand to be a pioneer in the field. Actually the art of using essential oils
from plants goes back many years to the time of the ancient Egyptians.
I think Tisserand does a great job with this book as well as his other work, The
Practice of Aromatherapy, which I also have. He not only provides information on how to
use the essential oils as tools for natural healing, he provides many recipes for massage
and medicinal oils. He also provides recipes for facial masks, ointments and aromatic
baths. Over the years I have used many of his recipes with great results on my hair, skin
and health. I love his information on how to use the oils with body work such as massage
and shiatsu.
I can not recommend this book too highly if you are a fan of aromatherapy or someone
who is learning about the ancient art.
Enjoy!
