by Roberta Wilson

I'm a very big believer in aromatherapy. Yesterday I spent some time in a Dallas store that specializes in aromatherapy. I bought several small vials of essential oils and went home and made up a scalp massage oil using Basil Oil and French Vanilla. After a wonderful scalp massage I took a long bath with my new YlangYlang & Jasmine oils. Wow.  Talk about feeling relaxed and wonderful.

I enjoyed this book because Wilson provides a good introduction to some of the basic oils that are used in aromatherapy. She also explains the basics of carrier oils which many people don't think about.

A great oil with a heavy carrier oil may lose a lot of its punch and effectiveness. The right carrier oil (almond, olive, jojoba, etc.) can make or break a formula. I also like the fact that Wilson talks about all the dangers involved in using aromatherapy oils without some advance information. Many people don't realize that some essential oils should never be ingested. Some oils should be used very carefully due to their concentration levels. Wilson covers all the bases on things to be cautious about when using oils.

This is a great book for a newcomer to aromatherapy. As a more advanced student, I still got some new ideas from the book. I liked Wilson's resource guide with a list of suppliers. This is important. I am always concerned that retailers many claim their oils are authentic when they are synthetic. A good rule of thumb is the actual cost of the oils. Synthetic oils are a lot less expensive by the ounce.

I think this is an excellent "how to" book for anyone interested in Aromatherapy. As far as I am concerned....there is never too many good books about essential oils. The author appears very knowledgeable and caring.

Enjoy!
