Milady's Standard Textbook of Professional Barber-Styling
by Maura T. Scali-Sheahan
I saw this hardcopy book at my favorite Borders bookstore and just had to have it. My
initial intention was to just skim through the book to get an idea of what barber-styling
is all about. I found so much great information about hair care that I just had to be
impulsive and buy the book.
This book has step-by-step procedures for hair cutting, coloring, waving and
straightening. Not only are all the details included, but they are provided in a very
clear format with lots of great illustrations. The purpose of this book is to help a
student pass the state licensing exam. I loved the section on scalp treatments and scalp
massage. I also loved the complete anatomy of the hair. I was fascinated by the wealth of
information that is included in this book.
Obviously this book is best for someone who is seriously studying to be a barber or a
hairstylist. However, if you have a deep fascination with anything related to human hair
or scalps this is a great book to have.
I strongly recommend it to hair care students and anyone crazy for hair facts like me.
Enjoy!
