Blended Beauty : Botanical Secrets for Body & Soul

Blended Beauty : Botanical Secrets for Body & Soul

by Philip B., et al

I found this great book while I was in St. Louis recently for some business. I had some time to kill before catching my plane to Dallas and stumbled upon a strange little book store that was stuffed into a odd house that reminded me of a cottage you might find in a medieval forest.

I figured that a bookstore so cool that it looked like a gingerbread cottage wouldn't have any real undiscovered hair book gems. I was wrong. Blended Beauty was sitting out in plain view. I was amazed that I had never seen this book anywhere else before.

I love the title..... Blended Beauty : Botanical Secrets for Body & Soul

The title says it all folks. This book does provide some great new secrets. The pictures are wonderful too. The skin and body care section has an incredible photograph of some beautiful fruit. This book really captured my heart in so many ways.

It is well written, beautifully illustrated and photographed and very doable. I have a hard time with natural care beauty books that require me to jet over to the Orient to look for ingredients that no one has ever heard of. This book is easy. A very 90s kind of do-it-yourself beauty book.

Now that I have been raving on, I need to stop and give you the scoop on the hair care section. There are over 20 pages of really great hair care recipes. I tried many of them with good to great results. I was very impressed with the Cherry-Almond Hair Mist recipe on page 88. My favorite product by Aveda is their Cherry Almond Bark conditioner. I thought it was very cool that Philip B provided me an alternative way to get my fix of Cherry Almond.

The Cherry-Almond Mist recipe is very easy to use. All you need is almond and cherry extract mixed with some vanilla extract, lemon juice and water. Spray it on and watch the shine and luster. I loved this little recipe. Well worth the price of the book. There is a great black tea-rosemary rinse for dark hair and to cover gray. The avocado hair mask is great for adding softness. The Chocolate-Pumpkin hair care conditioner was more fun than my hair deserves.

In case you haven't figured it out....I loved this book. I recommend it to anyone who loves to play with their food like I do. Of course it helps that I get to play with food and improve my looks at the same time. What a great bonus.

Enjoy!
