Nature's Beauty Kit : Cosmetic Recipes You Can Make at Home

Nature's Beauty Kit : Cosmetic Recipes You Can Make at Home

by Deb Carpenter (Editor)

This little 129 page book is small enough to tuck away in your briefcase. That is exactly what I did so that I could sneak little reads during waits in line and traffic. I would not advise reading this in traffic though since it is too informative to easily put down.

Deb's book has 25 pages of hair recipes. I always turn to the hair section first since that is my primary interest to review for this site.

I was not disappointed by Deb's hair care section. She provides several recipes for all natural shampoos that you can make at home. They are not all that complicated and I was able to easily make the quick herbal shampoo for light hair. The recipe calls for adding dried chamomile flowers and dried mullein flowers to Deb's basic shampoo recipe. It was an interesting and refreshing blend. It is interesting that Deb's finals rinse with mint and rosemary reminds me of the Rosemary/Mint product that Aveda sells. Deb's recipe allows you to make it at home.

Deb also gives you recipes for hair conditioners as well as for damaged hair. She has a hair loss recipe along with a split end recipe. Personally I recommend just getting your hair trimmed religiously to avoid the splits...however if you want a different approach Deb has it.

I liked this book. A lot of the recipes were easy to assemble and required very little time to make. Since I am a no fuss, instant gratification personality, this was a big plus for me.

I think you will enjoy this book. Besides hair care Deb offers tips on skin care, legs and feet, hands and nails, baths, lotions, soaps, scrubs and scents. She also provides recipes for potpourri and details about oils, herbs and the sources for purchasing supplies for her recipes.

Happy reading.
