Inner Peace Outer Beauty : Natural Japanese Health and Beauty Secrets Revealed

Inner Peace Outer Beauty : Natural Japanese Health and Beauty Secrets Revealed

by Michelle Dominique Leigh

I actually read Michelle's The New Beauty: An East-West Guide to the Natural Beauty of Body & Soul first. One day I was wandering through the health and beauty section of my favorite bookstore and spotted this book which was actually published about 3 years before The New Beauty.

Since I liked Michelle's The New Beauty book so much, I decided to buy this book as well. I actually enjoyed this book even though it is written in a much plainer format than the New Beauty book. There are actually 13 pages devoted to the following three sections:

  • The Beauty Of The Hair
  • The Japanese shampoo
  • Hair Rinses And Treatments

The section on the beauty of the hair explains the Japanese desire for women to have very long hair. Michelle explains that "for centuries Japanese women wore their hair as long as possible. The longer the hair, the more evocative its suggestion of nature and sensuality." I found this fascinating since I hadnot originally known about this Japanese custom.

Michelle gives a wonderful description of the Japanese shampoo and describes the standard ingredients that has been used for centuries. To assist you with making your own Japanese shampoo Michelle provides recipes for Rice Bran Shampoo, Pink Bean Powder and Olive Oil Shampoo and Sea Tangle Shampoo.

I love the Pink Bean Powder recipe because I happen to really like Adzuki beans which are part of the Pink Bean ingredients.

This book is wonderful. I learned so many new things about hair care and Japanese customs, shampoos, conditioners and hair packs. It is well worth the price.

I enjoyed the beauty and presentation of the book as well.

Enjoy
