How to Make Your Own Herbal Cosmetics : The Natural Way to Beauty

How to Make Your Own Herbal Cosmetics : The Natural Way to Beauty

by Liz Anderson, Helen Howard (Illustrator), Liz Sanderson

I was very excited when I saw that Ms. Sanderson's original 1977 book had been reprinted. I have been a fan of How To Make Your Own Herbal Cosmetics for years. This little book (100 pages) is jammed full of very cool ideas on hair care & beauty. Chapter 21 has interesting tips on how to improve the condition of your hair, while Chapter 20 has great information on natural hair colourants. I love her tips on using mullein for blondes and tea for brunettes.

Okay...I will admit that some of the recipes may be a tad messy, but for the most part I found them easy to concoct and use.

Liz also has a great section with all the herbs listed and a description of what they do. Also...I love her Chapter 25 on Slimming tricks. The Slimming Bath feels great. I am not sure how much I have slimmed...but my skin always looks and feels better. The Weight-Reducing Tea recipe actually tastes good for a Dandelion based tea.

Of course I have to recommend this book since I have been referring to it since 1977 when it first came out. I guarantee you will find at least one unusual recipe for hair or beauty care that you have never heard of before.

Happy herb gathering!

Daily Hair Tip
Always detangle wet hair with a good quality hair pick or wide toothed comb. Make sure the pick or comb's "teeth" are smooth to prevent snagging or ripping of delicate wet hair.
