Absolute
Beauty : Radiant Skin and Inner Harmony Through the
Ancient Secrets of Ayurveda
by Pratima Raichur, Marian Cohn
I was visually drawn to this book by the gorgeous flower on the front
cover. When I opened the back cover and saw the beautiful photo of Pratima
Raichur I knew that I could not leave the bookstore without this book tucked
under my arm.
After I got the book home I could not put it down. There was so much
great information that I kept reading until I could not resist trying some of the great
recipes and suggestions. So I immediately tried the warm sesame oil scalp massage featured
on page 135 and was in heaven.
This gorgeous book draws on the principles of Ayurveda and its treatment
of the mind, body, and spirit as one to create an innovative approach to beauty, including
hair and skin-care regimens, remedies for common problems, nutrition, and tips on
utilizing the spiritual nature of Ayurveda. This book truly looks at beauty from the
concept that true beauty radiates from total health and serenity.
Absolute Beauty explains that in order to achieve balance you must
cleanse and nourish yourself within, beginning with a professional purification treatment
known as pancha karma or through home detoxification. If you do not detoxify internally
first, than any pure substance you feed the skin, hair and body will go to waste. The book
also explains that we cannot ignore one level of life without a cost to life as a whole.
This book covers the spectrum of natural beauty but I found many great
gems of wisdom on scalp and hair care. I discovered some great external hair remedies for
dandruff, premature graying and hair loss.
I strongly recommend this book. Not only will you learn new hair and
overall beauty lessons, you may even achieve a new level of peace and harmony in the
process.
Enjoy!
