I’ve always experienced the very best results when I’ve used basil oil mixed with jojoba oil applied to the roots of my hair.

Listed below are some of my favorite formulas for how to make stimulating hair oil:

Karen Marie Shelton’s Stimulating Hair Oil #1*

4 ounces of carrier oil (jojoba, almond, sesame or similar)

10 drops of organic (non-synthetic) Basil oil* (Basil or Sweet Basil – not Holy Basil)

Mix the carrier oil with the essential oils.  Pour into a clean sterile amber or Cobalt blue glass bottle with a glass dropper.

Before using on the roots gently heat the bottle in a bowl of hot water.  Do not get the mixture too hot or it will burn the scalp.

Instructions

Apply the oil to the scalp and roots of the hair with the pads of your fingertips.

Avoid making contact with your fingernails and the scalp since it can leave tiny scratches and scars.

Wrap oil infused hair with plastic wrap or plastic shower cap or similar hot oil treatment covering.  Allow the oil to remain on hair for 30 minutes or longer.

You may sleep in the oil but be sure to protect your bed clothes since the oil may transfer and leave stains.

Note:  Basil oil is balancing, reviving, and strengthening for the roots of the hair.  It’s relaxing while at the same time stimulating and energizing.  I personally prefer organic jojoba carrier oil. I have found olive oil to be too heavy for my own hair type and texture.

Coconut oil may or may not work for every hair type and texture.  Many swear by it, others find it too heavy for their strands.

If you find coconut oil beneficial for your hair you may achieve great results with the following stimulating hair oil formula:

Coconut Oil

3 1/2 ounces of coconut oil

20 drops of rosemary oil

10 drops of cedarwood oil

Note:  Cedarwood essential oil is derived from the Atlas cedar tree.  It is one of the oldest oils to be produced having been traced back to the Egyptians who used the oil for embalming the dead.

It used to be an ingredient used to relieve dandruff.  It is also effective in neutralizing oily hair and roots.  If you have extremely dry hair, you may wish to bypass this stimulating hair oil treatment.

How To Remove Stimulating Hair Oil Formulas

Sometimes it’s difficult to remove hair oil formulas with regular showers.

To remove the Stimulating Oil formulas from hair consider doing the following:

  1. Apply 1 dime or 1 quarter size amount of gentle shampoo to the palms of your hands.
  2. Dab the undiluted shampoo at the roots on top of the oil mixture.
  3. Pat the shampoo mixture down the length of your hair.
  4. Step into a lukewarm water shower and direct the water flow on the shampoo mixture.
  5. Gently swish the shampoo down the length of your hair.

Note:  If you wish, you can take a clean quart sized bottle and fill it with lukewarm water.

After applying the shampoo, you can pour the water over the top of your head and allow the water to slowly drizzle down from the roots to the ends.

Using this method allows you to more easily control the water applied to the top of your head.

Apply a rinse out conditioner to hair.

Separate hair into individual sections.

Detangle slowly with fingers or a wide tooth comb working from ends to the roots.

After hair is completely detangled, rinse completely.

Finish with a cool/cold rinse to close the cuticle.

Towel blot hair to remove excess moisture.

Apply a leave in conditioner or other protective sealers when appropriate.

Allow hair to air dry when possible.

*Use organic oils when possible.

Jojoba Oil - All Rights Reserved

The key to success with the Stimulating Hair Oils above or any similar formula is consistent application.  Whenever I was experiencing hair issues, I would always apply the oils three times a week for up to 8 weeks.

I always highly recommend starting a hair treatment program 3 days after the New Moon or 3 days before the Full Moon.

Remember that not all formulas work for all types of hair or hair issues.  Experiment with the various oils until you find a mixture that seems to work best for you.

I’ve found jojoba to be a magical oil for my hair and scalp.  Not everyone has the same reaction.  Others love the results they receive from olive or coconut oil  Select the base oil you prefer.

Avoid worrying about results until after you’ve given the formulas time to work.  When it comes to hair regrowth, it can take several months to see results.
