Valerie Bertinelli’s Long Lush Hair How To

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

Hot In Cleveland star Valerie Bertinelli has a lush head of rich chocolate brunette strands which she wears with loose waves and curls throughout the edges.

Sometimes Valerie wears her hair so dark it takes on a raven black hue.  At other times her color base is a lighter milk chocolate highlighted with light hazelnut and caramel strands.

Valerie is known to have a lot of hair but it’s always possible she supplements her luxurious strands with either clip-in or fusion style extensions.  Of course the more hair Valerie has added to her own, the more fullness she can rock.

Step By Step Instructions

Follow the steps below to copy Valerie’s lush full hairstyle:

1.  Cleanse hair in lukewarm water with volume enhancing products.
2.  Apply a light rinse-out conditioner from the ears down to the ends while still in the shower.  Use fingers and a hair friendly detangling comb to gently detangle strands from ends to roots.
3.  After hair is detangled finish with a cool to cold water rinse.
4.  Towel blot to remove excess moisture. (more…)

‘The Voice’ Gains 10 Percent in Adults 18-49 and 5 Percent In Total Viewers Versus Last Week’s Strong Debut

NBC WINS TUESDAY NIGHT IN ADULTS 18-49 AND OTHER KEY DEMOGRAPHICS WITH ITS TOP TUESDAY AVERAGES OF THE SEASON WITH ENTERTAINMENT PROGRAMMING

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – May 4, 2011 – Last night, NBC’s“ The Voice” grew in its second week in both adults 18-49 and total viewers from its strong premiere numbers of a week earlier, making it the first new primetime series on ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox this season to increase from its first week to its second, according to “fast affiliate-based” “live plus same day” viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

Last night from 9-11 p.m. ET, week two of “The Voice” (5.6 rating, 14 share in adults 18-49, 12.4 million viewers overall) grew in its second week by 10 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 5.6 rating from a 5.1) and by 5 percent in total viewers (12.4 million vs. 11.8 million).

This makes “The Voice” the first new series this season on ABC, NBC, CBS or Fox to grow from week one to week two in 18-49 rating or in total viewers. Last week’s 5.1 rating for the debut of “The Voice” had been the highest rating for any series premiere on those networks in more than a year – since CBS’s “Undercover Boss” debuted following the Super Bowl on February 7, 2010.

“The Voice” was the #1 show of the night in adults 18-49, topping such primetime rivals as “Glee,” “NCIS,” “Dancing With The Stars” and all other primetime programming on ABC, CBS or Fox. (more…)

Madonna Misses Alexander McQueen

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

Just a few days after the Royal Wedding where the bride and her maid of honor wore designs from the Alexander McQueen fashion house, the late designer and the current head of the line, Sarah Burton, was honored in New York.

The design industry gave their nod of approval to the McQueen bridal designs.

On Sunday night celebrities such as Madonna, Penelope Cruz, Salma Hayak, Beyonce, Kate Hudson and many others  graced the Red Carpet at New York’s Museum of Metropolitan Art for the annual Costume Institute Gala to honor the late Alexander McQueen’s contribution to fashion.   Madonna attended the ‘Alexander McQueen:  Savage Beauty’ with her manager Guy Oseary.

Madonna made an appearance in a silky teal blue decadent gown which featured glittery stars down the train. Her ’50s hair, red lips and complementary make-up also enhanced her golden Hollywood look.

Madonna told the media “I miss him.  I think he was a brilliant designer.”

Although McQueen committed suicide last year, the designs he left behind along with the new designs flowing from his fashion house are more popular than ever.  McQueen’s designs have been worn by First Lady Michelle Obama, Kate Moss and Rihanna.

The McQueen ‘Savage Beauty’ exhibit opens to the general public today (5/4/11).  It is the first retrospective of the designer’s gifts.

Besides Kim Kardashian’s hair Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Paul Nassif picked Angelina Jolie’s eyes as the best eyes because of their symmetry and an upper eyelid that’s great for wearing makeup.  Nassif gives his patients Angie’s look with “an endoscopic brow lift and an upper eyelid lift for an estimated cost of $8,500.”

New York Plastic surgeon Dr. Andrew Jacono revealed Megan Fox’s brow is the most requested brow.  The facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon explained that Megan’s eye-enhancing high brow bone is the most coveted.  If you want to copy the star’s brow Dr. Jacono noted that an endoscopic brow lift costs approximately $10,000. Hair On Fire Is No Joke For Teen

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

Fire is often used to send a dramatic message.

In some cases people jokingly refer to having their hair on fire as an example of living a fast and furious life, for 16 year old Devin Lewis of Ohio, it was no laughing matter.

As reported by The Cincinnati Enquirer and Hamilton Journal News the teen was riding on a Middletown school bus on February 4th when someone grabbed and pulled off the hood he was wearing to cover his head.

Lewis reported he jerked his head back when a student held a lighter in front of his face and other set his hair on fire.

Lewis had sections of his hair burned off, but did not require medical attention.

Luckily for Lewis he did not suffer the fate of superstar Michael Jackson who suffered serious burns and long term residual pain for years after his hair caught on fire during the filming of a soft drink commercial. (more…)

Academy To Premiere Restored Print Of Garden of Finzi-Continis

Academy to Premiere 40th Anniversary Restoration of Foreign Language Film Winner “”The Garden of the Finzi-Continis”

Beverly Hills, CA – The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will premiere a restored print of “The Garden of the Finzi-Continis” in celebration of the film’s 40th anniversary on Thursday, May 19, at 7:30 p.m. at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. The evening will feature an onstage discussion with the film’s producer, Arthur Cohn, following the screening.

The 1971 winner of the Foreign Language Film Academy Award®, “The Garden of the Finzi-Continis” chronicles the gradual disintegration of the Jewish community living in Ferrara, Italy, at the beginning of World War II. Oblivious to the threats surrounding them, the wealthy Finzi-Contini family ignores the Fascism closing in on their community by remaining within the walls of their luxurious garden. Ultimately, the walled garden is no shelter from Mussolini’s anti-Semitic decrees and the horrors of the Holocaust, and the Finzi-Continis’ inaction and isolation contribute to their downfall.

Adapted from Giorgio Bassani’s 1962 semiautobiographical novel, the film was one of acclaimed Italian director Vittorio De Sica’s final movies. It was shot almost entirely in soft focus, creating a dreamlike quality, and De Sica purposefully never shows the actual dimensions of the garden.

The film also earned an Academy Award nomination for Writing – Screenplay based on material from another medium (Ugo Pirro and Vittorio Bonicelli). (more…)

Alison Sweeney’s Big Hair Surprise

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

One of Ellen Degeneres’ favorite guests is Alison Sweeney who hosts NBC’s The Biggest Loser.  On a recent show Ellen surprised Alison with a blast from the past – a photo of the lovely Alison from back in the mid-1990s.

Ellen has a regular segment on her show called Bad Paid For Photos where viewers send in horrible photos they paid to have made.  On the episode where Alison was a guest Ellen had two Bad Photo visitors who showed off horrible hairstyles from the past.

Ellen decided to surprise Alison with her very own Bad Paid For Photo.  The talk show host unveiled a huge blown up photo of Alison.  She told Alison “We have one Bad Paid For Photo.  Usually people bring them and show us, but you don’t know what this is.  We found it.  So it’s of you.”

Alison said “I think (the photo) it was from 1995 from what I was told. They said they found it.  I haven’t seen it. So I so excited and horrified all at the same time.”

Ellen unveiled the photo and Alison laughed hysterically.  In the photo Alison’s hair was very long, very curly and had a huge mound of hair around the sides and along the top of her head from the hairline to the crown.  Alison exclaimed “oh my god!”

She told Ellen the photo was from “Soap Opera Digest.  The cover of Soap Opera Digest from about 1995-1996.  I was a bad girl (on the soap).”  Alison gestured to the tall hair and exclaimed at how tall the hair was.  She said “I think the hair is (so tall) it’s the same size as my (entire) face.”

It was quite a surprise and very funny to see how big Alison’s hair was during her bad girl days in the soap world.

Steve Carrell’s Daughter Acts As His Fashion Stylist

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

Steve Carrell was recently a guest on Ellen chatting about ending his seven year run on “The Office”.  He said the final show was actually a lot more emotional than he thought it would be.

Steve told Ellen “I’d been preparing myself because I’d known for about a year that I was going to be leaving this season and I thought I was emotionally prepared but I was really surprised at how bittersweet it was.  And everyone was crying, but it was nice.  They’re my friends so that was the difficult part of it.  Sort of moving on.  I felt like everyone was a junior and I was a senior and I was graduating and moving on and they’re still in high school.”

The real impetus for Steve leaving The Office?  He confessed “spending time with my kids. That was the real impetus for me leaving. I’ve been trying to pack (in) a lot of kid time.  My kids are my hobby.

Steve’s two children are 6 (a boy) and 9 (a girl).

He proudly told Ellen “and my daughter actually picked out my outfit.  My daughter Annie said ‘I want to be your stylist.'”  Steve told Ellen “I had another sweater on and she said ‘ugh ugh, no.  Nope, too Fallish.  Too much like Autumn.  Really?  Nine?”

Ellen told Steve she liked his outfit and that his daughter did a good job being his fashion stylist.  Watch out fashion world.  A new stylist is in the wings.
