2010 Oscars Best Director Kathryn Bigelow Says Never Give Up On Your Dreams

Kathryn Bigelow won the award for Best Director for the film "The Hurt Locker" and made history as the first female director to win that award.

However, she has been very reluctant to distinguish her directing in terms of being a woman.  Instead she has focused on being a filmmaker first.  She doesn't want the fact she is a woman to be factored into the equation and she held strong to that opinion when she did her backstage interviews after her spectacular win of the 2010 Oscar for "The Hurt Locker".

When asked about being a woman she said "I'd love to just think of myself as a filmmaker, and I long for the day when a modifier can be a moot point."

However, she was practical and said she hoped to be the first of many women to achieve the goals she has achieved.  She also does feel grateful if  "some young, intrepid, tenacious male or female filmmaker" is inspired by her success.

Kathryn wants to underline the fact "the impossible is possible" and no one should ever "give up on your dream".

Daily Hair Tip
To combat cowlicks apply pomade or setting gel to the spot & blow dry w/ nozzle aimed downwards. Longer hair helps weigh down cowlicks as will tiny barrettes or clips. Pulling hair into a ponytail or braids will tighten down the cowlick. Experiment until you get results.
