Celeb Hairdresser Ken Paves Judges 2009 Miss America

Super celebrity hairdresser Ken Paves is one of the esteemed members of the panel of judges for this year's Miss America contest.  Indeed, last week when Ken was jetting around the globe to do hair he and I were chatting about his work with Eva Longoria and Christina Applegate at the 2009 Golden Globes.

It was no surprise to anyone that Eva was named Best Dressed by E!  Her hair was often referenced by the media as being part of her entire gorgeous look at the Globes.  Christina also looked smashing.  No surprise there either because Ken did her hair as well.

I was asking Ken what was on his upcoming agenda and he told me he would be one of the judges at Miss America for 2009 in Las Vegas.  We talked briefly about my recent stay in Las Vegas, the impending opening of his new Ken Paves Salon which will be in Vegas ((at the end of the Vegas Strip) in the next few months and where he stays when he is in Vegas.

We also discussed how he coiffed Eva and Christina Applegate's hair for the 2009 Golden Globes awards.  Ken has been working with Christina for many years and of course we all know how often he works with Eva.  Yes, he used his Ken Paves Healthy Hair product line.  All of his "girls" love the products.

Ken told me he was thrilled to be part of the Miss America judging.  I was not really surprised he had been tapped to be a judge.  Whether you know it of not, Ken was recently a judge for the 2009 Miss Universe through the esteemed Trump organization.  He loved his judging duties for Miss Universe so it only made sense he would be asked to do the same for Miss America.

Who better than one of the world's foremost hairdressers who has worked with some of the biggest and brightest stars to be a judge of Miss America?

The 2009 Miss America Pageant will be broadcast live at 8PM EST and 7 CST on Saturday January 24th. Of course I will be watching and when I get a chance, picking Ken's brain about the experience.  I like to live as vicariously through his experiences as possible.

Although it sounds very exciting and glamorous to be a judge, I know how hard it is.  A few years ago I was asked to judge a local beauty contest in the Northern States because of my obsession with hair and beauty topics.  It is a tremendous responsibility and a lot of commitment to do your very best to be fair in your voting.

When you judge a beauty contest you have to be 100% focused on the women and you have to take into consideration all facets of their beauty including their inner beauty as well as their hair, make-up and fashion statements and bodies.

I have no doubt that Ken will be brilliant and absolutely fair.  I can't wait to see the contest live and will definitely be watching.  Don't forget to set your TIVOs to catch the Miss America event.

Give short hair tousled looks by scrunching or running fingers through wet hair as it air dries. Use blowdryer on low setting for faster results.
