Let Your Lips Do The Talking

Let Your Lips Do The Talking

Buy The BodyShop® New Pink Hi-Shine Lip Treatment And Help Support The  2007 Stop Violence In The Home Campaign.

Here’s a fact. Up to 275 million children in the world are affected by domestic violence, while one in four women is a victim of domestic violence at some point in their lives.  In the US alone, up to three million children are living with domestic violence in their daily lives.*

Every morning, millions of women gloss up their lips before they head out the door. Now this ritual can help make a difference in other women’s lives. Women across the country can now assist women who are victims of physical and emotional abuse and let their lips do the talking against domestic violence by purchasing The Body Shop’s new special edition pink Hi-Shine Lip Treatment ($11.50).

The translucent pale pink shade delivers a high shine finish for maximum glossiness and is delicately fragranced with passion fruit. That's not all.  With its distinctive daisy logo, every time you use your special edition Hi-Shine Lip Treatment, you're sending out a message of support:  “Domestic violence has to be stopped. Let's do something about it. Today.”

At least 75% of the proceeds will go to our Stop Violence in the Home campaign partner, the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence

For the past five years, The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence has been committed to its partnership with the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence program supporting women and children affected by the issue. The Body Shop’s Stop Violence in the Home campaign has raised more than $1 million for organizations tackling domestic violence. The NCADV helps women who have survived domestic violence regain their confidence by performing cosmetic and reconstructive surgery needed to repair the injuries they have received from a spouse or intimate partner.

Face To Face

The Body Shop is thrilled to announce that funds from the sale of its special edition Stop Violence in the Home Hi-Shine Lip Treatment will support the expansion of the unique NCADV Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery (CRS) Program called FACE TO FACE. NCADV works in partnership with the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) to assist survivors of domestic violence who cannot afford the cosmetic and reconstructive surgery needed to repair the injuries they have received from a spouse or intimate partner.

Rita Smith, CEO of the NCADV said today: “Facial injuries can leave a woman’s self esteem and confidence devastated. Not only is she living with the scars of her abuse for all to see, she is often judged in society and sometimes may find that she is passed over for job opportunities because of those visible injuries. FACE to FACE supported by The Body Shop will help more women regain their confidence to face the world again and rebuild their lives, which in turn will also put a smile back on their children’s faces.”

Past NCADV projects supported by The Body Shop include:

• The launch of a national Teacher Training campaign to address the most effective ways to help protect children from the harmful effects of domestic violence by training the people who interact with them on a daily basis.

• Publication of the National Directory, a unique publication, featuring details on 16 program areas of the 2,001 domestic violence shelters in the U.S. Thousands domestic violence advocates and battered women use the directory every day as a resource in finding shelters and services.

• Support of the NCADV’s Public Policy Office which provides information to shelters, domestic violence programs, advocates, state and federal legislators and the public on key domestic violence votes and actions.

And there’s more…

Hi-Shine Lip Treatment contains Community Trade marula oil from Eudafano Women's Co-operative in Namibia. Supporting this product provides women in marginalized, rural communities the opportunity to earn a fair wage.

Back by popular demand, we are also selling our gorgeous Daisy Soap (RRP $4.50), lightly scented with a pretty, floral fragrance, it gently cleanses the skin with its rich, foamy lather. This vegetable soap contains daisy extract, and moisturizing Community Trade shea butter from Ghana.

The Body Shop has raised more than $1 million for organizations tackling domestic violence across the world in recent years.

Daily Hair Tip
When towel drying wet hair never rub hair roughly or twist up into a towel. This will potentially damage delicate hair cuticles. Instead carefully blot hair with superabsortant towel and squeeze hair gently to remove moisture.
