Question
Spencer
I am very, very, naturally curly hair which I have hated all my life. Can you please recommend a good cut for me? My hair is frizzy, so I can't let it dry naturally. I am 51 years old and my hair has given me fits all my life. I can't seem to find a stylist that knows what to do with it.
Please help.
Thank you so much for your time.

Answer
Dear Kay,
Consider yourself very lucky!
Most women I speak with your age are losing their hair. They would give anything to be
in your position.
Enjoy your hair. It's a gift.

Question
Spencer
My girlfriend wants to straighten her curly
hair. She has had curly hair all her life and she wants to change that. She has tried
straightening products but they have not produced the results she has hoped for. Since she
is
Hispanic she is afraid that a salon
treatment might damage her hair. What can she do to safely straighten her hair?

Question
Dear Spencer,
I am a 20 year old female. I straighten my hair every 6 months and use a blow dryer
every 2 days so my hair gets absolutely straight.
I have recently noticed that my hair is thinning around teh forehead area. I just want
to ask you if the heat from the blowdryer could have caused this.
Also, is there anything I can do to restore my hair growth? My hair is absolutely
unsightly if I don't use the blowdryer - would I actually have to stop?
Q
Answer
Dear Q
It may be a good idea to stay away from the chemical processes for a while...use the
blow dryer on a low setting and don't pull on your hair when you style it.
Try to find a style that causes less stress on your hair. If your hair doesn't begin to
grow in a few months we may be looking at some other underlying condition.
Good luck,
Spencer
