Thermal Reconditioning - YUKO or Rusk?
Question
Dear Karen,
In your opinion, which thermal reconditioning system works
the best and the least damaging for my hair? I have
narrowed down my choices to Rusk and Yuko. Will either
system damage the hair follicles? What should else should
I know before I select the product I use?
Thanks.
David
Answer
Dear David,
Thank you for your email regarding Yuko and Rusk products for
Thermal Reconditioning (TR).
It is my opinion that it really doesn't matter what type of TR
product you select...Rusk or Yuko. The results of either type
of treatment depend on the hair professional that applies the
product to your hair.
Of course there are other factors that have to be considered such
as:
1. The current condition of your hair. Is your hair
damaged or it is virgin hair that has never been thermally
reconditioned or have you had the process done before?
2. If you hair already thinning?
3. What is the reason for your TR desire? Do you have
tightly curled hair or hair that has a looser curl pattern.
4. Is your hair colored or chemically treated in any other
way?
All of these issues would need to be addressed with the hair care
professional that you select to apply a TR treatment to your
strands.
Since the ultimate result of your treatment depends on the
expertise and experience of your hair care professional, let the
hair pro decide which treatment is best. If you find a thermal
reconditioning expert that prefers Yuko and has a lot of history
with the system then let them use the products that they get the
best results with.
There are many other types of TR systems now available besides
Yuko and Rusk. Don't make a decision about TR for you hair
based on the product. Find a TR expert with lots of known
expertise and let them advise you about the appropriate product.
Some TR experts will actually use multiple TR products depending
on their client's hair.
Remember to only go to a hair pro that has extensive experience
working with thermal reconditioning products and make sure to have a
complete pre-treatment consultation.
Best wishes to you,
