Sunglass Frames With Hair Colors?

Question

Dear Karen,

I want to walk on the wild side and buy some great new sunglasses for my upcoming cruise. I'm sick of selecting safe colors like black, white or metal. I want to go for a more vibrant color that will make me stand out on the deck of the ship while sunning myself. I want to make sure that it's doesn't class with my hair color which is blonde. My skin tone is very fair.

Any suggestions?

Susan

Answer

Dear Susan,

Blonde Hollywood stars like Meg Ryan, Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton have successfully demonstrated that their blonde tresses play well with sunglasses with traditional black or white frames.

If you want to breakaway from traditional consider the following options based on your current hair color:

Cool Baby Blonde - Traditional black frames create a striking contrast with cool blonde but to add sizzle opt for soft pastels such as blue, violet or soft mint. Or turn up the heat a notch and turn heads with sassy red, vibrant blue or purple.

Warm Blonde - Traditional gold frames look stunning with any warm blonde hues but for an edgy look, select frames in orange, vibrant peach or rosy tomato.

Warm Red - Select frames that don't compete with your glorious rich red tresses. Select frames with a sassy tortoise or other pattern.

Brunette - Whether dark or light, most colors will pop when combined with a darker frame of hair.

Silver Or Gray - Play off your silver or gray hair shades with a frosty mauve, lavender or shimmery pink.

Experiment with a range of colors that telegraph your mood and you will be definitely turn heads on the sun deck.

Best wishes,
Karen

Sally Hershberger Appointment?

Question

Dear Karen,

I've wanting to book an appointment with Sally Hershberger's salon in NYC, however, I've searched everywhere online and still couldn't find any information about her salon in NYC.

Well, I've gotten to your website by searching for Sally Hershberger.. and it has been quite helpful except the location of her salon.

Thank you for the wonderful and helpful website. It's amazing.

Can you please let me know how to get ahold of Sally for an appointment in NYC. Also, do you know if she has a waiting list and if her haircuts are expensive? I really want to see her but of course I have a budget as well.

Thanks,

Sally H.

Answer

Dear Sally H,

Thank you for the kind words about HairBoutique.com.
Sally has her own salon in the Los Angeles area now. She rarely goes to the NYC salon from what I understand. If she does go to NYC she works out of the John Freida salon there. The best bet for finding Sally is to call the LA salon and explain that you want to see her in NYC. They can advise you of her schedule and when you might have a chance to see her in NYC. They should be able to provide a number to call for getting on Sally's New York list.

You can contact Sally Hershberger at the California John Frieda Salon at:

8440 Melrose Place
West Hollywood, CA.
90069-5308
323-653-4040

Please keep in mind that Sally is not only very famous for her work with such celebrities as Meg Ryan but she is very popular in general. She also travels with some of her celebrity clients to work with their tresses on location. Therefore, according to my sources, she does have a waiting list that can vary from days and weeks to even months.

Sally is considered to be one of the best. As a result, her haircuts can sometimes cost $400 or more. A lot depends on what you would like to have done. You can also request a quote before you book your appointment so you know what to expect and how to budget for your visit.

Keep in mind that Sally is known for her genius eye. Although Sally will cut your hair, like many celebrity stylists, she will have her assistants do everything else from washing and detangling your hair to assisting with the blow drying and/or styling.

Many consumers that visit a celebrity stylist for the first time are shocked that the stylist may spend only 5-10 minutes with them and then charge many hundreds of dollars. Keep in mind that a hot celebrity stylist charges thousands of dollars for being on set for a movie, fashion or TV project.

Best wishes, Karen Shelton
