Is Less Definitely More?

Karen,
I
tend to buy the cheapest hair gels and styling products I can
find. I just a lot of the product so I figure why not buy it
super cheap and slather tons of it on my hair. Recently my
stylist told me it is better for my hair and my pocketbook to buy a
really good product that might cost more but then I could use a lot
less. Does this make good sense to you?

Marg,
I am definitely
a believer in less is more. I would agree with your stylist
that it is better to buy a higher quality product, even if it costs
more, than to use a cheap product and use tons. Not only does
more product potentially cause your hair to become dull and drab
from overuse, it probably makes more financial sense to use just a
tiny bit of a more expensive product than tons of a cheap
product.
You also have to
consider the age old wisdom that you get what you pay for. The
super cheap products might contain inferior ingredients that not
only make your hair dull but may actually cost you more since it
might be less beneficial in the long run.
Why not consider
investing in a higher quality product that you carefully find on
sale and then compare a tiny dab of the good stuff with the tons of
the cheap stuff. Let your hair be your guide. If your
strands respond better to the higher quality product why not
consider the less is more approach and treat your hair to the better
formula.
