Question

Dear Karen,

I love HairBoutique.com.  It has so much great information. I am very interested in hair extensions.

I was wondering what length my hair had to be before I could use extensions. My hair is not 6 inches yet. I am letting it grow out of a very short haircut.

I live on Long Island and am wondering if you know any hair extension experts located there.  I am hoping to be able to get them put in right before the Christmas Holidays.

Thanks in advance,

Debbie

Answer

Hi Debbie,

Generally speaking most hair extension experts suggest that the natural hair should be 6" long for optimal attachment.  However, depending on a variety of factors, some stylists might be able to work with a bit less length.

There are many great stylists who specialize in hair extensions on Long Island.  I can personally recommend the hair extension services of Barbara Lhotan.

She has been certified in the Great Lengths hair extension system for several years and has a great book of work with many happy hair extension customers.  Barbara lives on Long Island and works out of a salon there.  She also free lances and works in a salon in The City.

You can contact Barbara via email at Ms. [email protected] or you can reach her at 516-982-8588 for a price quote and additional details.

Another option is to visit the Great Lengths website (http://www.hairuwear.com/great-lengths) for a list of certified Great Lengths hair extension experts in your local area.

Best wishes,

Karen Marie Shelton
