Introduction
Daniele Ryman has written a wonderful book
on
Aromatherapy and the use of oils to help hair problems.
Since I always try everything
at least once, I decided to try one of her hair loss recipes.
It is important to point out that there are no guarantees that this
recipe will work for you or your hair loss problem. It is also important to let you all
know that hair loss is not one of my concerns at the present.
Note: As of 8/2004 this
book was out of print but is available as a used book through
Amazon.com.
In the very distant past I had a diet induced, hair loss incident. My hair has since
grown back and is now 5 inches below my waist.
However during the time of my hair loss problems, I tried one of the hair loss recipes in this book to see the
impact to my hair and scalp. I found the results to be good. My scalp tingled and my hair
took on new shine. I personally would try this recipe again and recommend it to any of my
friends with hair loss concerns.
WARNING: Proceed at your own risk. I can not guarantee the results of any of the home hair recipes. They are for
your own personal experimentation purposes.
Before you apply this hair loss treatment or any special hair treatments
check your scalp for any abrasions, cuts or bumps. If you find any, don't try this
hair recipe until your scalp completely heals. If your scalp does not heal be sure
to see your doctor.
Hair Loss Recipe
Here is the hair loss recipe that I used from Daniele's book. It is
important to get authentic oil of bay and NOT synthetic:
- Mix 4 fluid ounce of alcohol (40-60 degree proof) with 1 ounce purified
or mineral water and 1 scant teaspoon of oil of bay (available at most
large health food stores).
- Heat slightly or apply "as is" without heating.
- Massage the mixture into your scalp before you shampoo.
- Wrap your head in
plastic wrap or apply a shower cap and leave on your head for 30 minutes. If you experience any
discomfort, wash out immediately.
- If you do not experience discomfort, you may wish to leave the
alcohol/bay leaf mixture on for 30 minutes or as long as you desire. Be sure to massage
your scalp completely.
- After you have let the mixture soak on your scalp for the appropriate
time, shampoo your hair with your regular shampoo.
- Follow your shampoo with a cool - cold rinse.
- Remove excess water and use your normal hair conditioners, gels or
detanglers as appropriate.
Note: It is best to let
you hair air dry rather than to dry with any heating equipment after a special treatment
like this. |
