Sarah Jessica Parker who is fondly referred is SJP (born March
25, 1965) is best known for her leading role as Carrie Bradshaw on
the HBO television series Sex and the City (SATC), for which she won
four Golden Globe Awards, two Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards and
two Emmy Awards.
SJP is almost as famous for her naturally textured hair as she is
for her role on Sex And The City. SJP often wears her hair in an
array of classically sophisticated wavy hairstyles.
SJP played the same role in the 2008 feature film version of the
show, Sex and the City: The Movie and its sequel, Sex and the City
2, which is scheduled to open on May 28, 2010.
She has also appeared in other films such as "The Family Stone",
"Smart People", "Failure To Launch" and most recently in "Did You
Hear About The Morgans?" which was released in December of 2009.
Besides her spectacular run as the New York sex columnist who
ultimately gets Mr. Big, the man of her SATC dreams, Sarah Jessica
is known for her famous Manolos, her amazing fashion sense and her
history of amazing hairstyle changes and transformations.
Looking back in time over the course of her acting career, SJP's
hairstyles have morphed from her original natural curly hair strands
through a series of blonde and brunette hues.
Her current dark blonde base with precision placed highlights and
lowlights creates a rich sophisticated look which instantly detracts
years from her pretty face. Sarah Jessica's current warm hues
works in perfect harmony with her long lush S shaped waves which are
often offset by a few well-placed ringlets around her hairline.
The noted fashionista has found success not only with her
hairstyle and color, she has a thriving acting career, successful
fragrance lines and three adorable children. SJP's fans are
already planning for the SATC 2 film which has been suggested may be
one of the most successful films for 2010.
Sarah Jessica is the woman that other women want to have as their
best friend. She has triumphed over a number of challenges
many women face with grace and elegance.

Sarah Jessica Parker Hairstyle 411
One thing is pretty clear, Sarah Jessica has rich long hair which she
dresses up for Red Carpet events by changing up the texture from
sleek and straight to undulating ripples of soft waves.
For her role as Carrie she often wore her hair in an array of
edgy and Boho styles ranging from rocking her natural curls to
wearing them ironed stick straight.
SJP's Carrie was
innovative with her fashions and her hair accessories. Carrie
and her many looks triggered a range of style trends including hair
accessories.

Sarah Jessica Parker has worked with a dizzying array of
celebrity hairdressers over the years. The word on celebrity
mane street is that the actress likes to try different hairdressers
in order to get a fresh set of scissors on her naturally curly
tresses.
For SATC2 Sarah Jessica and the rest of the cast had their hair
coiffed by Frank Barbosa who has worked with a long list of
celebrities in the past including Anne Hathaway for 'Rachel Got
Married'.
Sarah Jessica has been known to wear
add-on
hair for SATC, film roles and Red Carpet appearances to add
volume and fullness to her natural curly strands. The actress
has worn her tresses coiffed into a range of chignons, topknots and
finished ponytails in keeping with her casual elegant style.
Whether Sarah Jessica is wearing
add-on strands
or not it is always impossible to tell because her hair, make-up and
fashions are always the picture of perfection. In SJP's case
it really is true that only her hairdresser knows for sure if it's
all her natural hair or not.

Hairstyle Color: Warm toast dark blonde base
Hairstyle Highlights/Lowlights: If you look closely
you will see what appears to be a hint of lighter golden blonde highlights with
contrasting caramel lowlights infusing Sarah Jessica's strands with
luscious warmth, movement and shimmer.
Texture: Sarah Jessica has naturally curly hair
which is famous for its tendency to frizz and pouf. Photos of her in
the early days of her career have portrayed her with tightly curled
big hair.
Her current wavy hair appears to have very slight
layers skillfully placed around the perimeter of her hairstyle.
It's quite possible SJP has had her natural curls professionally
relaxed to soften them from her tight coils to the softer ringlets
and waves she has been wearing regularly since 2009.
Whether she's had chemical relaxing or not, certainly the added
weight from her longer lengths will help flatten her natural texture
into more compressed waves and ringlets.
For the Red Carpet SJP's tresses are usually styled with lots of
body and volume which cascade from a sleek crown. Sarah
Jessica is careful to avoid too much volume throughout the top of
her scalp which would give her tresses a big hair profile.
For less
formal events she generally wears her hair either pulled back in a
casual twist or she wears a nape level pony.
Fringe: Sarah Jessica rarely wears a fringe which is
probably due to the fact she has naturally curly tresses which are
not well suited for a full frontal bang.
The SATC star appears to prefer to wear her hair either cascading
off a side or off center part. The hair around her cheekbones
in the front adjacent to her hairline are usually waved or softly
curled to give contract to her face shape.
Sometimes Sarah Jessica's hair is brushed off her hairline in such a
style that no obvious part is visible.

Face Shape: Sarah Jessica's face shape is a blend of oval
and square. She has full round cheeks which slope into a
squared off chin.
Hairstyle Works Best: Sarah Jessica's hairstyle works best
for hair which is shoulder length or longer which is all one length
or with very subtle stacked or nestled layers.
The best texture for recreating this hairstyle is
hair with some bend, natural waves or light curls. It can be
copied with or without a fringe.
Hair Tools Required: Large barrel curling iron or
large
hot rollers, 100% boar bristle brush, long tail comb, bobby pins,
styling spray and/or cream, sculpting hairspray, shine spray and/or
serum drops.
To add strategically placed volume, fullness and length you may wish to play with
clip-in hair
extensions.

To copy Sarah Jessica's long wavy hairstyle follow
the simple steps listed below:
1. Start with either freshly cleansed and completely dry
hair or with day old hair with a cream or spray designed to help
with the creation of soft hair waves.
Depending on your hair type and
texture you may prefer mousse, gel or some other styling product.
Note: If you
shampoo your hair before styling be sure to use products
for your hair type (fine/thin, medium, thick, very thick), texture
(straight, wavy, curly, kinky) and current condition (normal,
damaged, extremely damaged).
2. If you wish to copy Sarah Jessica's look completely,
create a deep side (or off-center) part extending directly off the hairline using
a
long tail comb. If you prefer, you can copy Sarah Jessica's
hairstyle with a fringe or different part although it
may not look exactly the same.
3. Use a 100%
boar bristle brush or
similar and separate remaining hair into two-inch sections.
Clip all
remaining hair
out of the way.
4. On each section, spritz
styling spray or apply
cream, starting
approximately 1-2" below the root area.
After prepping hair with spray or
similar, wrap around a large barrel
curling iron
(or
large hot rollers) for a few seconds
to avoid burning or damaging strands.
Hold the iron
until you feel the heat coming off of the hair.

5. After creating the hot curls and removing the iron, re-roll
curl around fingers to recreate the curl. Pin to the scalp.
Note: If you prefer, you can opt to use either large
barrel hot rollers
or create a wet set with traditional style sponge, rag or adhesive
style rollers to achieve similar results.
6. When all the sections of hair have been completely ironed,
reformed and pinned, spritz the entire head lightly with a
setting
or styling spray.
7. When hair is completely dry and cool, unpin each curl.
8. Separate a 2-4 inch section of hair, depending on your
preferences, from the right side part off the hairline. Lift
the section and backcomb it with a
brush or
comb to achieve the desired height.
Spray well and then smooth back and over to the opposite side of
the head from the part to achieve that sexy sweep of hair on either
side of the face Sarah Jessica is
famous for showcasing.
9. Rake
through the remaining hair with your fingers to
arrange hair into sexy waves just like Sarah Jessica is wearing on The
Red Carpet above. For added tousle you may bend over at the
waist and gently shake your strands.
10. For Sarah Jessica's brilliant shine add a
few drops of shine serum, spray or
shine enhancing hairspray to the
palms of your hands and then wipe lightly over the top of your
tresses. Remember that a little bit of shine product goes a
very long way.

Note: If the waves are too well formed use a 100%
boar bristle brush to break up the waves a bit and make them softer.
Remember the smaller the
curling iron barrel, the tighter the
resulting curls and waves.
Sarah Jessica's hairstyle is a classic style and truly gorgeous. It can be worn for any Holiday or
Party Hair event ranging from a formal or semi-formal dinner or a
special formal dance or Prom.
This is a classic hairstyle which never goes out of style. To
amp up the look even more add a
bejewelled hairpin clip on one side
of the hairline or slide or a jeweled headband.
Stretch the hairstyle after the waves start to drop by pulling
into a nape neck ponytail or wrapping into a tousled chignon
positioned in the middle of the back of the head.
Or play with a half up/half down hairstyle which allows the waves
to billow out over the back of the shoulders.
Summary
Sarah Jessica has been quoted in the
media as saying her status as a fashion icon hasn't necessarily
boosted her ego.

She has said “my self-esteem is not
boosted (by being a fashion guru). I don’t know that you can really
base your own opinion of yourself on what others think or say about
you. That’s just a nowhere road."
The mother of three also has said she
doesn't Goggle herself because "I can't really pay attention to all
the chatter about me - that may or may not exist, positive or negative.
I just don't see that's really a valuable use of my time."
Indeed, no one is busier than the
working mom who alternates acting with working on her various
fragrance, fashion and related lines. All of her SATC fans are
just grateful she makes times for appearing in the SATC movies.
