Silver
Hairbrush Award - 10/17/2000
After much agonizing, mousing and handwringing we all agreed that the
World
of Hair had accomplished major things in the past two years
as a great consumer oriented hair site. Yes, they also cover other beauty related
topics to an extent, but they are, in our opinion, a major hair
site. More importantly as we were talking about all our candidate hair sites,
we all agreed that World of Hair's progression in the consumer hair care
world has been very impressive.
Hair Link of the Week - 3/28/99
Spring formals, Proms & June weddings are approaching. To honor this period
of romance, Karen has selected
TheKiss.com as the
winner of the Link of the Week award.

"Do you know the origin of the Barber Pole? Can you guess why barber shops
used to be closed on Sundays & Mondays? These are just some of the little
nuggets of golden info you can find in the
HotLocks Link of the
Week site".
Hair Boutique's
Week's Link - Bare Escentual User's Group 2/14/99
"The Bare Escentual User's Group site was created as a forum for
consumers of the Bare Escentual's beauty products. If you love aromatherapy topics,
the BE beauty products, or just happen to be a cosmetics junkie, you will love this new,
but promised to be great, site."
Hair Boutique's Week's Link - Texas
Hair 2/4/99
"Texas Hair & Style wins the HB's Silver Hair Brush for Hair Link
of the Week. This great site is a "one-of-a-kind Internet magazine" that
promises a variety of different big hair features with every new issue. The site, through
its Texas Hair magazine, highlights dramatic Texans creating big styles at home and in the
salon. The site even gives you the option of downloading some big hair styles and trying
them on for size. Make sure you stop in and check out all the big hair finds. Texas
Hair does Texas proud."

"Karen picks The Mining Company's Beauty & Health website as the
current Link of the Week & winner of the new Silver Hairbrush Award.
Shirley Bragg, resident guide, has "mined" the Net for some great
hair information finds. That's not all.... there are lots of other discoveries stashed
throughout the Beauty & Health pages just waiting for you to find them. No
shovel or pick required."
Hair Boutique's Hair Link of the Week - 1/17/1999
"Part of the Hair Boutique's New Year's Resolution for 1999 was to
gently expand our borders and add a little spice to our hair topic area. Don't worry, we
are going to continue to focus 95% on "everything" hair. However, we are going
to mix it up a little bit with some other related topics.
One of the Links of the
Week for 1997 was the Beauty Buzz site which has both hair and beauty
topics. Our current Link of the Week also has some hair related topics, but
is somewhat more focused on cosmetics. Even from the cosmetics viewpoint,
one of their primary topic is lipstick."
Hair Boutique's Hair Link of the Week - 1/5/1999
"I wanted the Hair Boutique to start off 1999 with a bang. In keeping
with this theme, I selected Ouidad's (pronounced wee-dod) site to be the first Hair
Boutique hair site of the year.
In the past year Ouidad's site has exploded with exciting new products, hair
care videos and information devoted to curly hair. Now don't get me wrong.
Ouidad's site has always been a treasure chest of information on caring for
curly hair. It just seems than in the last six months the site has blossomed."
Hair Boutique's Hair Link of the Week - 12/23/1998
"It seems only fitting that the last Hair Link of the Week for 1998 is
Dave Tichenor's The International Long Hair Club. This is because Dave has been a special
friend to the Hair Boutique from the very beginning of time. Dave has offered us not only
his ongoing support and sage advice, but he has helped Jeff and I in many ways."

"Did you know? That baby hair begins to grow around the third month
after conception within the womb of the mother? That is when trichocysts are first formed.
They develop into hair follicles as the fetus grows, then become downy hairs several
centimeters long when the baby is born.
Did you also know that the total number of hairs is determined before the
baby is born? After that, the number of hairs never increases. It just decreases. The
number of hairs greatly varies for each person, from sixty thousand to one hundred and
fifty thousand, and makes up one of the natural characteristics of each person when they
are born."

"Over the past several months I have written many Hair Link of The Week
Reviews for the Hair Boutique. I must confess that the review of Victors Long Hair
Mens Site has been the most challenging for me to date.
I has been hard for me to do because I hold so much respect and affection
for Victor that I wanted to make sure that I captured him and his site perfectly. Whenever
I start putting the "perfection" hex on my head, I get really messed up. My
palms get sweaty and slip and slide on the keyboard. My face breaks out and my consumption
of chocolate escalates. I am not sure if my face breaks out because of the accelerated
chocolate or the perfection stress. At any rate, the pressure percolates."

"I have to confess that selecting Marci's site as the Hair Boutique
Hair Link of the Week is long overdue. I had actually selected Marci's cool retro hair
site several weeks ago. Marci and I exchanged e-mails about it but then somehow fatal
procrastination set in.
Recently I was thumbing through the Oct/Nov 1998 issue of Hair Magazine
(British Edition) when I spied an article titled "Hair On The Net". I was
disappointed to discover that Hair Boutique had not been mentioned, but I was thrilled to
see Marci's site listed on the "Well Wacky" category."

"I first met the lovely Hasani through the Long Hair Site when photos
of her gorgeous knee-length hair were featured on Frank's site. I then got acquainted with
her via the site's email list.
I found Hasani to be a very interesting and delightful person with all types
of wonderful life experiences to share.
Eventually her great photos were cycled off the main pages of The Long Hair
Site. However, Hasani decided to then share some of her own personal photos on her own
"unofficial" personal site which she first dubbed "Hasani's Silly Little
Page".
As Hasani's page evolved, it eventually attained "permanent page"
status along with regular visitors. I was very happy to see that Hasani's page was going
to be around for awhile since it has some wonderful images that I like to visit at least
once a week."

"I first discovered Heather's site when I was doing a web search on the
Phytologie line of hair care products. With a bit of blind luck I had just returned from
stumbling into Cosmetics Plus in NYC (July 1997) where I met and fell in like with Phyto
#7. This innocent little tube of leave in conditioner/detangler made my hair feel like
silk. I was impressed.
While searching for more information on Phyto#7 I found Heather's review of
the product. I liked the fact that Heather was honest and mentioned that she had not felt
that the Phyto #7 had worked as well as she liked on her hair. Her review of the product
was detailed and she explained the condition of her hair when she tried the product. I was
so impressed that I stopped and read all of the hair care product reviews I could find on
Heather's site."
Hair Boutique's Hair Link of the Week - 10/5/1998
"When I was growing up back in St. Louis, Missouri, it was considered a
mortal sin to be seen out in public wearing hair curlers. Curlers were reserved for
"in the privacy of your own home." Curlers were also considered the height of
slumber party attire, the bigger the better.
I lived through all the curler crazes from the little pink spongies to the
orange juice cans and through several generations of hot curlers. Finally I just gave up
and the last time I had curlers in my hair was when I was convinced that big curls were
the right look for a Christmas party 10 years ago."
Hair Boutique's Hair Link of the Week - 9/22/1998
"I have to confess that I had a terrible time writing about the Beauty
Buzz site.
Why? I could not stop myself from reading every single article, tip or post
in every single section of this fabulous site. I would get so totally hooked on reading
each and every morsel of cool stuff on every single page, that I would lose all track of
time. Unfortunately my addition to reading and playing took a toll on my writing.
Hanging out at the Beauty Buzz site reminds me of the old days in high
school when all my best girlfriends and I would hang out together in the girl's john at
lunchtime and try out the latest lipstick and eye shadow..
Once we had the colors worked out we would take turn working on each other's
hair. I lived for those beauty makeovers at lunch every day."
Hair Boutique's Hair Link of the Week - 9/10/1998
"I usually start my reviews with some insight into how I met the
webmaster or author of the chosen site.
In JerkyFlea's case I have to start by telling you that in one of my first
emails to him my spellchecker abandoned me and I wound up addressing him as "Jerk
Flea". Was my face ever red, purple, and multiple shades of pink. It is not generally
considered a great way to win friends and influence people by calling them a Jerk right
off the bat."

"Have you ever surfed into a site and just felt instantly welcome? That
is exactly how I felt from the very first moment my mouse cruised into George Caroll's
Cyber Salon. I could almost hear George's friendly hello and insistence that I make myself
feel at home in his beautifully designed cyberspace studio. I just felt that George would
stop at nothing to make me (or any of his visitors) feel cherished, pampered and cared
for.
I found out pretty quickly that my first impressions were right on the
money. The more I got to know about George Caroll, and his incredible Cyber Salon, the
more I discovered that he is a rare find."
Hair Boutique's Hair Link of the Week - 8/24/1998
"The Hair Boutique has selected The Beauty Shoppe Archives (BSA) as our
Hair Link of the Week. This great site invites you to take a step back into the past where
you can relive classic hairstyles such as the bouffant, the flip, the pixie and the
pageboy. I enjoyed every minute that I spent looking at all the great styles which
triggered lots of warm and happy memories for me.
If you love to look at classic hair styles from the past, the Beauty Shoppe
Archives is a great place to visit."
Hair Boutique's Hair Link of the Week - 8/10/1998
I literally spent hours on my first visit browsing through all of the Aveda
product descriptions. I looked at all the pictures, I gleefully counted all the money I
was going to save and then plotted about all the new products I could buy. My mouse finger
swelled, my eyes watered and my tush ached from sitting fixed in one spot for Internet
eternity. There are literally thousands of products on their cyberspace shelves organized
according to brand names."

"So many great web hair sites, so many URLs to visit, so much hair to
see. Picking the very first Hair Boutique's Hair Link of the Week was really a terrible
task. I agonized with my fingers glued to my mouse as I surfed from link to link. I
finally decided that I just had to pick Hairdos.com as the first Hair Boutique's Hair Link
of the Week."
