of The Month - September 99

Name That Celebrity!

Yet another piece of cake.  Man, these theme contests are the ones that kill me, but I just can't resist.  Some sort of weird addiction, I guess.  Maybe there's some sort of twelve step program.  Anyway, if you didn't guess them, last month's pics were of...

Mystery Celebrity #1: SELA WARD

Mystery Celebrity #2: RENE RUSSO

The first person with the eye for former 80s models was...

Elizabeth Vaught!

Way to go Elizabeth.  The next 9 correct guessers in order were ssjockey, Yesenia, Donna Edwards, Joanne Ripple, Jack Stokes, Laura Ready, Laura Salter, Phil, and Gail Clark

vvv

On to this month's contest.  As usual, I give you either a picture of a celebrity from early in their life or career with some completely different look or I disguise a current picture.  You then have to tell me who the celebrity in question is.  Simple enough?  Of course.

Well, I'm gonna do the theme thing again (can't just quit cold turkey, now can I?).  This time, though, I'm going to combine it with my most successful contest (remember Demi Moore?) and go the route of super glamour as disguise.  So...

Who are the two ultra-glam celebs pictured below ?

Mystery Celebrity #1:

Mystery Celebrity #2:

No hints.  I'm tired of getting the first correct answer the same day. =)

As usual, THE FIRST PERSON to send me the correct answer for BOTH gets a hearty virtual handshake and pat on the back...and their name featured in the next column.  The next nine just get their name in the column.  Sure, it's a subtle difference, but those yellow letters don't come cheap.  Good Luck!

Did Ya Know?

Got a minor one this time on America's Morning Sweetheart (unless you are Bryant Gumble or a Bob Dole fan), KATIE COURIC.  Katie gets sacks of letters everyday commenting on her varying hairstyles.  Even her mother will call after the show if Katie's hair doesn't meet her approval and ask if Katie's hair person had the day off .  Yet, Katie's style is often copied by viewers, and, heck, even other morning show hosts (you know who you are).

The irony of all this is that Katie is just as influenced by other celebrities as her viewers are by her.  When she let her hair grow to a short bob a few years back, she was, according to her, attempting to emulate Isabella Rossalini.  Needless to say, that one didn't work out too well.
Her super short pixie a few months later was inspired by Winona Ryder's signature crop.  That look faired a bit better, but still didn't last.

Her current terrific longer shaggish style was triggered by the segment they did several months ago on extensions during which Katie tried out some very long, below the shoulder locks, which looked fantastic on her.  From compliments she received and comments during the segment, you could tell Katie pretty much decided to let her hair grow out right then.

Which, by the way, would be much to my delight and her mother's chagrin.  Let's just hope she sticks with this one for a while...and doesn't answer those calls from Mom.

As usual,

JerkyFlea
