I have several hair color changes to report this month, so let's get started with former "Baywatch" babe ANGELICA BRIDGES. In a rather shocking move, she has defected from the ranks of the redheads. Angelica has recently bleached her titian tresses to a light, Pamela Lee-esque blonde.  The style and length appear to be unchanged, but the difference in appearance is still pretty amazing.

By the way, I know that '"Baywatch" babe' is politically incorrect, but '"Baywatch" actress' is an oxymoron. 

FLEA'S CALL:   The reason I find this so surprising is that her red hair made her stand out from the crowd.  Think about it.  How many actresses with great red hair spring to mind?  Now, she can be stereotyped as yet another of the never ending throng of busty blondes in Hollywood going after the coveted bimbo roles in those movies that go straight-to-video since "USA Up All Night" isn't around to show them anymore.  The moral here is that when you are known for your long, red hair, you KEEP your long red hair.  Just ask Angie Everhart.

The long-cancelled, but still bizarre series "Twin Peaks" gave rise to not only a great name for strip clubs to parody, but to the career of SHERILYN FENN.  More recently, Sherilyn can be seen starring in the Showtime series, "Rude Awakening".  Though she's had her hair very short and very long over her career, she's adopted a below the shoulder style for this series.  Recently, she's modified the style by cutting in a section of very short bangs that end a good inch or so above her eyebrows.

FLEA'S CALL:   This may come as a shock, but it's the little things that bother me.  Like that inch between Sherilyn's bangs and her eyebrows...which, by the way, she has screwed up by overplucking.  I mean, she had the classicly arched and perfectly shaped brows for years until she succumbed to the evil thin brow trend.  Who thinks this looks good?  Huh?  Anybody? I want to know!  But, yet again, I digress.  Anyway, no bangs looked good and longer bangs would look good, but this just looks...well...not good.  It's that simple.  Let's hope that by the time the new episodes start airing we'll see a significantly smaller, or possibly non-existant, brow-bang gap.

In another interesting hair color change, we have CAMERON DIAZ going from blonde to brunette.  Though I've seen Cameron's hair a very dark blonde/brown shade before (which is her natural color), I haven't seen it this dark before.  The other more minor bit of news is that she has grown it back out to her shoulders after several years of wearing it cropped, bobbed, and shagged.  As for the reason behind the dye job, my best guess is that it's for Cameron's upcoming role in the big-screen version of "Charlie's Angels" with Drew Barrymore.  There had to be at least one brunette angel and, since Drew's production company is involved in making the movie, I figure that Drew got first dibs on being blonde.

FLEA'S CALL:  This one is so easy, I'll give you the Tarzan version of the review: Length, good.  Color, bad.  Cameron look hot in leopard skin bikini.  Uh, sorry, got carried away there.  Anyway, I definitely approve of the additional length on Cameron since it once again gives her an approximation of a hairstyle after what seemed an interminable growing out process.  My initial opinion on the color, however, is the exact opposite of the one I had on Rene Russo.  I said that Rene had spent way to many years as a blonde if this is what going to that deep coppery auburn shade did for her.  This color on Cameron just proves that she should go back to blonde as soon as she can.

Continuing on the theme of blonde to brunette transitions, I have to toss in GWYNETH PALTROW.  Yup, looks like Gwyneth has darkened her traditionally blonde tresses to a chestnut brown.  Like Cameron, her natural color is a dark blonde that she lightens, but no where near this shade.  Not sure what the reason is for the change, but I would guess it's for an upcoming role.  She was willing to lop off her locks for the flick "Sliding Doors", so having to dye her hair this time was probably a piece of cake.

FLEA'S CALL:  Though, as I've said before, Gwyneth's appeal is completely lost on me, I can still give a pretty good assessment of how well the color works on her.  And, to put it simply, it doesn't.  She actually wore a long brown wig in the aforementioned "Sliding Doors" and the color made her look mousy and dumpy.  It's only slightly better now.  As I said for Cameron, this reaffirms the fact that she should remain a blonde.

To complete the trifecta of "blonde to brunette" items, I have some news on SIGOURNEY WEAVER.  If you remember a couple of months ago, I didn't just report, but had Scoop on Sigourney adopting a straight, layered, blonde, and banged style for her new movie "GalaxyQuest".  At the time, I said that it looked terrific, though I was somewhat surprised since one of my very first Did Ya Know? bits related Sigourney's declaration that she would no longer significantly change her hair for a role and would use wigs instead.  Now, I'm starting to suspect that she managed to get one over on the ol' Flea.  Why?  Well, she was just recently photographed with her hair in a dark brown, bangless bob that's virtually identical to what her hair looked like not too long before she appeared with the blonde 'do.

FLEA'S CALL:  Lacking any evidence to the contrary, I'm going to play along here and assume that she has dyed her hair back to approximately it's natural color and cut about 2 or 3 inches off of the length.  If that is indeed the case, then even though Sigourney's current style works just as well for her as it has in the past, I would be remiss if I didn't say that I'm actually kind of disappointed she renounced her towhead ways so quickly.  As I said when I first reported on it, I wouldn't have believed the style could be flattering without seeing it, and was surprised at just how attractive it was on her.  Maybe she got TOO many compliments on it.  You know, like when you say to someone, "Hey, your new haircut looks great!" and their first response is "Why? Did it look that bad before?!".  There is, by the way, no right answer to that question.

As long as I'm talking about hair color, I should go ahead and touch on someone who has made my "Best Hair on TV" list both years that I've done it, DEBRA MESSING of "Will & Grace".  She fell from fifth to eight in the last list because (to quote myself) "she has let her red curls grow out..along with a few roots.  Though, it still looks pretty good, the aforementioned stuff accounts for her slide...and could eventually knock her out altogether."  Well, Debra has gracefully (ugh, sorry about one) recovered from her transition stage by returning to her natural dark brown with some blonde highlights and letting the additional weight of the length evolve her curls into saucy waves, a la Sarah Jessica Parker.  And yes, I did say saucy.

FLEA'S CALL:  Debra didn't make the list two years running based on her big smile and bubbly personality.  She has fabulous thick, naturally curly hair and had, as I suspected, just stumbled slightly at the end of the last TV season in keeping it up.  Colorwise, I think I prefer the highlighted dark brown to the red, though both are attractive on her.  Basically, I have nothing but good things to say about this current iteration of Debra's 'do, as you may have gathered from that "saucy" comment I tossed in up there in what is supposed to be the more objective part. J
