Just a bit of housekeeping before we get started this month.  There isn't a Fleature this time, because I didn't get a chance to finish what I had planned to do.  Look for it as a separate, stand-alone article before the next column comes out, though.  Hopefully.  Anyway, in lieu of a real Fleature, I give you a choice of a few possibilities of upcoming ones.  Check'em out, pick your favorite, and let me know.  Heck, pick the right one and you'll even get to contribute to it.

One other quick thing.  If you see yours truly, the column, or my benevolent host, The Hair Boutique, mentioned in the press (TV, radio, magazine, newspaper, etc.), please let me know.  We've been trying to keep up with that stuff, but, hey, we can't catch them all.  I mean, it's not always easy to ferret out that you were mentioned in a Belgian woman's magazine.  Seriously.

So, enough about me (at least until you get to Fleamail, anyway) and on with the good stuff...
 

Once again, faithful reader Dan P has come through with a bit more info on EILEEN DAVIDSON's recent adoption of a shorter 'do.  According to Soap Opera Update...

The actress, who recently chopped off her signature long hair says, "I've been wanting to do it for a couple of years.  I talked about doing when I was on "Days of Our Lives" (she played Kristen, Susan, Sister Mary Moira, et al), but obviously couldn't because I was playing so many characters."

When Ed Scott (executive producer, "The Young & The Restless") gave Davidson the green light to chop her locks, she went for it.  "The only time it really hit me is when the scissors were just about to cut into my hair.  I went, 'Oh God, this is pretty bold.'"  It may have been bold, but the results are beautiful, even if it is a little more work as she explain: "This has to be styled or else it looks like 'I Love Lucy''s Ether Mertz"

FLEA'S CALL:   As I said last time, though I loved her hair long, I really like this.  And try as I might, I can't see Ethel Mertz.  Not even if I squint.

Ok, I can admit when I've been fooled and SIGOURNEY WEAVER got me but good.  Remember those fabulous blonde locks that looked absolutely terrific on her, garnering not only my praise, but reports in not one, but two columns?  Well, it was a wig.  Yup, an amazingly convincing one, but a wig nonetheless.  As documented in USA TODAY...

Jim Carrey had an attitude-altering mask in The Mask. Now Sigourney Weaver has a mood-changing wig in the comedy "Galaxy Quest". For her role as Gwen DeMarco, a floozy-ish actress who co-starred in a Star Trek-esque 1980s show called "Galaxy Quest", Weaver wore a long blond hairpiece. She says the wig did change her whole outlook during the shoot: "Once I put that wig on, I didn't say an intelligent thing for four months." The wig even made an appearance off the set. The actress wore it to a screening honoring the 20th anniversary of "Alien".

FLEA'S CALL:  Sigourney's regular style is attractive, though nothing really special.  Then again, maybe I'm let down since the blonde 'do looked so surprisingly terrific on her.  Needless to say, Sigourney should make sure she hangs on to this wig, for inspiration if nothing else.  I did kind of deserve this though, since I reported in my second column ever that she had said she would no longer change her hair for parts and just wear wigs when a different look was required.  You know, I should read my own stuff more often (which is also evidenced by a letter in this month's Fleamail, but that's ANOTHER story).

Just when I was ready to give up (heck, I HAD given up), reader Jeff B. comes up with a couple of pictures of a redheaded LIV TYLER.  Admittedly, they aren't the best in the world, but they do give you an idea of how Liv wore her titian waves.  And, as you can see, she wore them amazingly well.  Who knew Liv would make such a good redhead?  Not yours truly.  Then again, it doesn't really matter since she's once again a brunette and makes an even better one of those.
 

I also finally found the proof I had been seeking on RENE ZELLWEGER's extensions.  Though she appeared at the premiere of "The Bachelor" with what appeared to be her traditional long blonde locks, I knew she had cut her hair short last April just before the Oscars.  Thus, the longest her hair could have been was a little below chin length in front and just below her shoulders in back.  Finally, at the premiere for "Man in the Moon", Renee abandoned the extensions and you could see that her hair was pretty much where I predicted it should be lengthwise.  See, I told me so, but would I listen?  Nope.  Maybe next time, I'll pay more attention to me.
 

After a little digging, I came across a few pictures of TERI HATCHER from her series of Radio Shack ads.  As you can see, she now has a short layered bob, with longish layers on top, tapering down just below the hairline in back. 

Though short hair can and is usually quite flattering on Teri, this cut isn't her most brilliant style choice.  However, I'm willing to let it go, since, though not the best look for her, it's certainly not unattractive and it is better than the blonde-streaked bob she wore for "Cabaret".  Then again, maybe I'm just distracted trying to figure out what the hell she's done to her eyebrows...

HALLE BERRY has come full circle in her reversion to her look circa 1994-1996 by dying her crop by to it's original brunette color.  As you would expect, it looks great.  Then again, that shouldn't be a surprise, since it looked great five years ago when she wore it the exact same way.  It's kinda like one of those home renovation shows where they restore the house to what it looked like 100 years ago.  "Hi, I'm Steve Thomas with Norm Abrams for 'This Old Hairstyle'.  Today we're going to cut off this addition and remove the paint to get back to original look of the head."  v  Oh, and for those of you scoring at home, it appears that LISA HARROW was indeed relieved of her brown bob for the lead role in "W;t" (Wit) that she assumed on January 4.  Well, actually, she didn't start until January 7, since she came down with bronchitis.  But, since the show must go on, her role was assumed at the last minute by her understudy, MIKEL SARAH LAMBERT.  And, yes, as you suspected she was shorn backstage just before taking the role that first night.  Hey, on the bright side, she was only clipped to about a 1/4 inch, just short enough so that she could wear a bald cap.  I, uh, guess that's a bright side.
